Roar of the Tigers

offday in Detroit means photoday here

Finally managed to get photos from the Red Sox/Tigers series up! Thank you, offday. The shot at the top of this post was from the Monday game; that was our view from the luxury box (well, our view as seen through a wide angle lens). The rest of the shots are from Tuesday’s game.

This will be a pure photoblog. Secretly you love it. All photos can be clicked to take you to the Flickr page, where you can see them a bit bigger. Y’know, if you’re into that kinda thing. There’s a link at the bottom of this post that says something like “click to see the rest of this post”. That’s ’cause there are a lot of photos here and I don’t want it to be TOO huge on the front page. Click the link. You guys can handle that. I have faith in you.

Hey, look who’s back! He was wicked awesome with the fans, as one might expect, spending loads of time signing and talking and taking photos with people. He even took the time to remove a MASSIVE wad of gum from his mouth before taking a photo with one lady, so that he’d have a nice smile in the shot for her. Do we still love Sean Casey in the D? Unequivocally YES.

Also still in love with The Mayor: John Keating.

While we’re on the topic of love…

Miguel Cabrera gets a hug from Big Papi.

So does Todd Jones.

And Edgah gets his shirt tugged.

The River Thames and Coco Crisp hung out for a while…

…and parted with a hug.

Sox/Tigers cross-team snorgling makes me happy in my heart.

There WAS actual BP going on, shocking as that may seem, and eventually there WAS a baseball game.

Not that this prevented anyone from taking the time to sit and chat, of course. Everyone knows that schmoozing and fraternizing at the most important aspects of professional baseball! DUH.

I mean, if you aren’t schmoozing, ur doin it rong.

Lookit baby Joyce! He was interviewed before the game, so I was able to snap some shots.

O HAI TIGERS BLOGGERS. Billfer and me and Comerica. I look sort of distorted, but hey, we’re bloggers, that’s how we roll. Also might have something to do with the wide angle lens.

Polanco and Renteria get themselves PSYCHED UP for the game.

Jim Leyland actually smiled here. It turned out to be kinda terrifying.

I know I already posted that goofiest Brandon Inge shot, but here he is smiling goofily.

And here he is doing what he does best.

Not a good day for the bats, as sad Miggy can attest.

At one point Edgah completely forgot where he was and came out on deck without his batting helmet. When the dugout shouted over at him and reminded him, he pointed at his head like, ‘What, this? Oh, ha HA!’ and started laughing. Top work, Edgah.

And here’s Carlos trying out his SURGICALLY REPAIRED KNEE on a slide into second that meant nothing at all, as he had to go back to first on the play. Uggggh.

In conclusion:

Hair!

Red Sox!

Pudge grabbing his own ass!

Opera!

PAWS!

If you want to check out the rest of the photos, the photoset is right here. I know it looks like a whole lot of Red Sox photos, and it is, because I never get to see the Sox take BP and thus went… a little crazy. There are plenty of Tigers shots sprinkled through the BP stuff, though, and the game shots are mostly Tigers.

I still have some nice wide shots from Monday that I haven’t uploaded yet, and you guys haven’t yet been introduced to the insanity of the solid chocolate ballpark tiger, but all in good time, kids and kittens, all in good time.

    Thoughts:

Happy Leyland is kinda scary. It looks as if he’s finally snapped. Aw, shit, yo! It’s Jim Freakin’ Leyland! Oh hell no he’s coming this way oh no oh no oh no owwwwww…

That’s the most thoughtful look I’ve yet seen on young Miggy’s face. Gee, Kevin Youkilis, you may be on to something there. I’m going to give what you said some serious thought.

Majestic Hearthrob Magglio — gosh, I’m all a-flutter. In, er, a manly kinda way.

Inge Crotch-Grab — I laughed out loud, in the literal way, not the LOL way. He just really loves playing third base! It’s his home, and he’s comfortable there!

i just commented all over your flickr, but yay! baseball has been quiet two days and I’m all sentimental. Also I may have made Happy Miggy my desktop picture.

These pictures are awesome. Though none have replaced happy hamster in Tigers hat on Polanco’s shoulders as wallpaper at work. Could anything?

I looked at that Matt Joyce pic and thought “Will I be thrown out of Red Sox Nation as a heretic if I say that the Tigers have the best home whites in the universe?”

    There - I said it! ;-)

Matt, agreed re: all of that, although I’m sure Inge uses the crotch-grab to comfort himself when he’s behind the plate too.

tiff, if he brightens up your desktop, so much the better.

k, the season is long, and Photoshop is mighty. ;)

Iain, they are pretty damn classy. And classic. And, when paired with the high socks, are just about aesthetically perfect.

It is very comforting. I even do it while on the computer.
