You Heard It Here First: Bedard Traded To Seattle

According to The Seattle Times, the Seattle Mariners have acquired left-hander Erik Bedard. Mariners’ prize prospect Adam Jones was pulled from his Venezuelan league and will take a physical tomorrow morning to finalize the deal. No word on who else is being moved besides Bedard and Jones.

Both teams seem to get exactly what they wanted in this deal. The Mariners finally get an ace-caliber starting pitcher to place atop their rotation. Bedard will now ace a staff that includes both Carlos Silva and Felix Hernandez. The Mariners have now went from being mediocre to having a chance to de-thrown the Angels for the AL West crown.

On Baltimore’s end, Adam Jones is everything they wanted. He will soon be a star, and will most likely roam the Orioles’ outfield for the next decade. They now have someone to build around, as Miguel Tejada just wasn’t cutting it. Look for both Jones and right-fielder Nick Markakis to be studs for Baltimore very soon.

Club officials haven’t confirmed the deal… it’s kind of irresponsible posting this as a done deal.

It’s also irresponsible naming Carlos Silva as a factor in any pitching staff.
