Dodgers Interested In German/Belliard

  • According to Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in both second-baseman Esteban German of the Kansas City Royals and Ronnie Belliard of the Washington Nationals.  These are two players who are much cheaper than Brandon Inge and Joe Crede, two players that the Dodgers were apparently also interested in.  German would probably be the easier to acquire, as the Royals have acquired Alberto Callaspo who is a higher upside than Esteban.  Los Angeles needs a third-baseman after Andy LaRoche tore a ligament in his hand and will be gone for 8-10 weeks.
  • Coco Crisp Update: According to the Boston Globe, the Chicago Cubs are showing interest in acquiring Crisp, but Boston will not accept Jason Marquis in the package.  Chicago has seemingly been dangling Marquis ever since he made a comment in spring training about his lack of a rotation spot.
