TG Analysis
Great deal for the Tigers, who have now signed both of their big offseason acquisitions, Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. Cabrera is easily one of the top 3 third-basemen and can only get better. He hit .320 with 34 HR and 119 RBI for the Florida Marlins last year, playing in 157 total games. Cabrera will now bat in-between Gary Sheffield and Carlos Guillen in the Tigers’ lineup, so expect his stats to rise even more know that he will see much better pitches in his at-bats.
The price is also very reasonable, as Cabrera has a chance to be quite a player in future. What makes it better is that he’ll be a mere 32 when the deal ends. He experienced some weight issues in the 2007 campaign, but now has shredded 15 pounds of his weight in hopes of winning a World Series in Detroit, proving that he is willing to do whatever it takes to become one of the best players in MLB history. Only time will tell if he’ll fulfill that role.
