Pierre Doesn’t Like Bench/Rangers Don’t Like Turnbow
- According to the Los Angeles Times, outfielder Juan Pierre is not happy with his current role with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pierre has been the fourth outfielder on the club ever since youngster Matt Kemp has heated up, and seems to be getting a little ticked off. Now Pierre has made it clear that he “hasn’t accepted” being a bench player this year. Could it mean a trade? Possibly, but the fact of the matter is Juan’s salary is set to be paid $8M this year and due another $28M through the next 3 years. His contract will be a very hard to one to move unless Los Angeles decides to eat a portion of the deal. Looks like Juan might just have to bite the bullet.
- Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News has reported that Texas Rangers GM Jon Daniels has made it clear that the Texas Rangers are not too interested in recently designated reliever Derrick Turnbow. Most parties believe that the Rangers could use Turnbow, as strike-out pitchers seem to fare well in hitter’s ballparks like the one over in Texas. The only problem is Turnbow hasn’t had any “electric” stuff this year and has been miserable at locating the plate. He has walked 13 batters in 6.1 innings, striking out only 5.
