Yankees, Cubs Pull Out Wins

Lets take a look at two entertaining games from earlier today:

Yankees 5, Tigers 2
I tell you what, Darrell Rasner is pitching well, going six strong innings today. Combined with a good bullpen effort, great pitching for them today. If Rasner can be a solid number five option, than the Yankees would be thrilled. Derek Jeter actually hit his first homer today. Wilson Betemit hit an RBI double, but went on the DL with a strained right hamstring. Looks like Morgan Ensberg will be getting the bulk of at-bats at third until A-Rod comes back.

A poor start for Jeremy Bonderman, only lasting four innings. He was a guy who I thought really needed to step up this year, and so far he hasn’t.

Cubs 7, Diamondbacks 2
Yet another strong outing by Ryan Dempster. Him and Carlos Zambrano have really kept that rotation from burning down. The bats came alive in a sixth run seventh for the Cubs, capped off by a two-run homer from Kosuke Fukudome(finally). Very nice win for the Cubs, as they finally win a series against a very good team. They were starting to crumble before yesterday.

Max Scherzer looks like he could make a major impact for Arizona this season, as he looks really good. Unfortunately, the bullpen, specifically Chad Qualls, blew this one for him. Not much going on hitting-wise for the Diamondbacks today.
