Best Pitching Performance: Brian Bannister

The best pitching performance of the day easily goes to Brian Bannister of the Kansas City Royals.

Bannister used his good stuff and control to pitch eight scoreless innings today against the Orioles, only giving up two hits. He only struck out five, but he’s not the type of pitcher who will rack them up.

Using Bannister’s superb start, the Royals beat Baltimore 4-0 to avoid the sweep.

Bannister is a guy who is a very important part to the Royals’ rotation. His low strikeout rates are alarming, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting him too much. It will be very interesting to see how he does for the rest of this season, as Kansas City could possibly have a long-term answer at the number two or three spot.
