Rays Sweep Angels
I know I’ve been talking about the Rays a lot lately, but it’s tough not to considering the way they have been playing. They completed the three games sweep of the Angels today, winning 8-5.
Carl Crawford gave them the lead in the sixth inning with a three run homer off Justin Speier, and they never let go of it, with three fantastic scoreless innings of relief from JP Howell and another save by Troy Percival.
Both starters gave up five runs in this game. Ervin Santana, who in the eyes of the Angel TV announcers can do no wrong, finally had a bad outing, giving up seven hits. He’s guy who is finally showing his potential this year, but if he begins struggling on the road like he did last year, than look out.
The Angels, after being shut out in the first two games of this series, got to stater Andy Sonnanstin, but couldn’t do anything else. They’ve now lost four in a row, and may lose the lead in the AL West to the A’s. They better get it going soon.
