Orioles and Felipe Lopez?

According to the great Ken Rosenthal, the Baltimore Orioles are having conversations with the Washington Nationals about short-stop Felipe Lopez. As we all know, the Orioles have a gaping hole in the middle of their infield, with Freddy Bynum getting most of the work at short. Bynum is hitting less than .200 this year, and is showing absolutely no power.

The Nationals can most definitely move Lopez, as they are already having discussions with their starting short-stop Cristian Guzman on a contract extension. Felipe is hitting .247 this year, but has driven in 20 runs and plays above-average defense. Rosenthal believes the Orioles would only need to send a “marginal minor-league prospect”.
