Rauch Sent To Arizona

The Arizona Diamondbacks have added a strong reliever today, acquiring the 6′10″ reliever Jon Rauch from the Washington Nationals in return for second-baseman Emilio Bonifacio. Rauch has been an excellent closer for Washington this year, posting a 2.98 ERA with 17 saves in 48.2 innings. He will likely set-up Brandon Lyon to start his D-Backs campaign.

Bonifacio has all the tools to be a very good major league second-baseman. He compiles a good contact-bat with loads of speed and an above-average glove. In 85 games for AAA-Tucson, Emilio is hitting .302 with 1 HR 29 RBI and 17 SB. Expect him to be in the major-leagues once September 1st arrives.
