Twins Killings

Tigers needed this one

The Twins did their job by winning the first three games of this series. The pressure was on the Tigers to avoid being swept.

The Tigers had their ace on the mound for Sunday afternoon’s game. They needed Verlander to go get them a victory.

He did just that as he stymied the Twins’ hitters in this contest. The Tigers went on to a 4-2 victory over the Twins at Comerica Park.

Verlander has been pitching well lately so it’s hard to expect a victory in this one especially with Detroit not wanting to be humiliated anymore than it is.

He threw seven good innings. He gave up two runs on 4 hits and strike out eight.

He did what he had to do to give the Tigers the win.

The Tigers had to get this victory just so they can enter the All-Star break at .500. It’s been a disappointing run for them, and it’s hard to believe that it’s going to get better in the post All-Star break.

The Tigers are what they are. A middle-of-the-road team. Their hitting is okay, but their pitching leaves a lot to be desired. Their #3, #4, and #5 starters are nothing to write home about, and their relievers are not that great with the exception of Joel Zumaya and Todd Jones.

They are a third place team at best. It wouldn’t be surprising if they finish below third place.

They are the least of the Twins’ worries.

The Tigers can enjoy this win. They should after what they went through in this series.
