First Place White Sox Cap Great Road Trip With a Sweep
The White Sox used a flurry of offense to finalize a sweep of “Rick Moranis and the Little Giants” yesterday, bringing their record to 23-20. That mark is good enough for first place in the surprisingly mediocre AL Central.
It appears that it will be a season-long battle for first place in the standings.
The Indians have shown hot pitching and offensive sparks, but they were just swept by their in-state rival Cincinnati Reds. The Tigers have been disappointing, the Royals have cooled off from their initial burst, and the Twins just don’t seem to have enough to make a sustained run.
That leaves the first place Chicago White Sox (Man, I love to say that) who have displayed very solid pitching this season, but a streaky offense at best. I imagine Kenny Williams will look to address the offense around the trade deadline, because I can’t see him being very happy right now with his club sporting the 5th worst batting average in baseball.
Bad batting average or not, the White Sox are finding ways to win ball games. As mentioned in an earlier article, 7-3 on that West Coast swing was fine with me:
“If they can come back 5-5 or 6-4, I will be content. If they come back 8-2 or 9-1 I will be elated. If they fall apart like the last road trip and come back 1-9 or 2-8, it will be a cause for concern.”
Today is a much-needed day off, and then it’s a challenging home schedule against the Indians, and then another battle with the Angels.

I find it crazy that a team with this many talented hitters could be this bad, again..
