Rookie Hazing Day
My first thought… man, they have a crapload of rookies.
The Yankees dressed their rookies as Wizard of Oz characters before heading to Tampa Bay. The cast was as follows:
Dorothy: Ian Kennedy
Scarecrow: Shelley Duncan
Tin Man: Phil Hughes
Cowardly Lion: Joba Chamberlain
Glenda the Good Witch: Chase Wright
Wicked Witch of the West: Edwar Ramirez
Palace Guard: Ross Ohlendorf
Flying Monkey 1: Kei Igawa
Flying Monkey 2: Tyler Clippard
Apparently there was a Mayor Munchkin and a couple Lollypop Kids in the mix, as well, according to ESPN. I assume DeSalvo, Henn and Gonzalez filled those roles.
You can head over to River Ave Blues to see some pictures.

Yeah, the Yankees have so many rookies, they had them dressed up as characters I don’t even remember.

Now, if they actually linked arms and sang, that would have been a riot…

Henn’s not a first year player, which is what this is for. Sardinha was a guard, DeSalvo and Gonzalez were representing the Lollypop Guild.
