Black Friday News
Francisco Cordero will sign with the Reds to close. The deal is worth $46 million over 4 years with a club option for a fifth. Cordero was probably the biggest bullpen name (not named Rivera) on the market. Pickings are getting slimmer by the second.
In sadder news, Toronto Blue Jays lefty Joe Kennedy died suddenly early this morning while in Florida with his family. The cause is currently unknown. He was married and had a 1-year old son. Tragic news during the holiday season.

a.) Cordero, I believe, basically left the Brewers for the Reds because of $1mil … the Reds spent a lot, and Cordero did blow a few saves lastyear, but I think it’s a good move for them none-the-less. They needed to break the mold of looking like an NL team that won’t spend $$…now they have a dominating bullpen arm, so who knows, it could work out well for them.
b.) I feel sad for the Kennedy family. I heard that he woke up at 1am, got up to leave the bedroom, and collapsed and died. Plus, I believe he was also supposedly supposed to be the best man at a wedding today. It’s just really sad and I feel really sorry for the family.

The Kennedy news is cold water on the hot stove. God bless is family, friends, teammates and fans as they cope with this unexpected tragedy.

Kennedy has been on so many teams, that I thought he was like 35. It’s so sad that his son will never get to know his father. My condolences to his family.
