A Solution For The Offense?
Ben at River Ave. Blues is thinking about a solution for the Yankees offensive woes:
True, Bonds did bat .276 last year with a .480 OBP and a .565 slugging percentage, but he also brewed in his own troubles. The Yankees have been known to deal with high profile, prima donna players, but Barry Bonds carries a little too much baggage.

This is not my opinion…I agree with you two!

Yes,injuries are part of the game, but the bottom part of the lineup with Molina,Ensberg, and Gonzalez is like the 7th,8th and Pitcher in the national league! They are automatic outs! And let’s be serious now…next is Melky then Damon and pitchers aren’t really afraid of them either. The Lineup is suffering big-time,more so without Posada behind the plate then Arod and no one is picking up the slack.I love him,but Giambi sucks! 22 million and not even hitting .200 is unacceptable at the major league level. If you can’t try and get a few opposite field hits now and then maybe it’s time to call it quits! Then again they were 2 games under .500 at the exact time last year too…so who knows! A good vent was needed lol

Shouldn’t the Yankees at least consider it? if the teams goal is to win baseball games wouldn’t having one of the 4 greatest baseball players of all time make the team better?

In a word, no. Or you can refer to post #1, which puts it even better. Ef Barry Bonds.

Every time a bench player fails with RISP, I move closer to advocating Bonds as an option.

Someone needs to get things going. Since the mid nineties, the Yankees have had a history of bringing in sluggers like Mel Hall, Ruben Sierra, Darryl Strawberry, Cecil Fielder, Tim Raines, Mark Whiten, David Justice, Chili Davis, and Glenallen Hill to give the offense some “juice” when it was sagging.

I’ve lived in the San Francisco area my whole life and even I hate Barry Bonds. Good lord what a bad idea. I applaud creative thinking, but run away. Run very very very far away. Talk about a cancer on a team. Think about Yankee pride and tradition. Yuck!!!!

The point they make is that should the Yanks lose an OFer, Bonds could be an excellent replacement.
Wouldn’t really want him on the team, but as a stop gap solution to an injury crisis, you could do far far worse.
Hopefully won’t come to it.

Bonds honestly would probably be a good fit with the short porch in RF. But the guy just doesn’t actually fit on any MLB team. Imo, he is the worst cancer any team could possibly bring in, and I don’t feel like hearing about how Barry Bonds, the Yankee DH, is facing an indictment every, single, god damn, game for the rest of the season.

Bonds would be a “shot in the arm” for the Yankee offense.

LOL.

Bonds is not needed!!!! If you lose an outfielder, we got a spare at DH to be moved to the field and Brett Gardner waiting to be called to the roster as a reserve. Giambi would be moved to DH and then Duncan would get a starting role at first base. yes he hasn’t been hitting but there is a difference coming off the bench every one in a blue moon versuses starting consistently. Finally A-rod will be back in a week. This team needed to float at .500 until the others got back and then the damage can begin. For the past few years this team has been a second half team, coming on strong to finish the season. 3.5 GB isn’t bad so there is no need to panic for a high-priced has been to be added to the roster.

I’d rather lose. Seriously.

My tickets will be going on sale if the yankees sign Bonds.
