Poll Results: Instant Replay

Here are the results of our poll concerning the future role of instant replay in baseball.

Do you think MLB should use instant replay?

  • Yeah, but only on home run calls - 66 (52%)
  • Yes, on everything but balls and strikes - 32 (25%)
  • No, human error is part of the game - 24 (19%)
  • No, it will slow down the game - 4 (3%)

Clearly, most of you support some level of instant replay.  If you reduce the choices down to a simple yes or no, here are the results.

  • Yes - 98 (78%)
  • No - 28 (22%)

Our next poll question is one that has been much discussed among fans in recent weeks.  Melky Cabrera has had a rough year, and has been particularly bad since the beginning of May.  On the season he is batting .245/.308/.352, but since May 1st his line is .222/.281/.291 (stats are through July 3).

Brett Gardner was the name most often offered as Melky’s possible replacement, and since his recent promotion, this talk has only increased.  Today’s injury to Johnny Damon has made things even more interesting.  Since Damon will miss at least a few games - and could go on the DL - both Gardner and Cabrera will get plenty of playing time.  Then, when Damon returns, one of them will be benched.

So the question is, which one should it be?  Or, more directly, who do you think should be the Yankees’ center fielder?

I guess I would say — lets let ‘em play while Johnnie is out, and then ask me.

Bad time for this poll. All us Yankee fans are in a state of shock at being abruptly knocked out of the race

Melky is the centerfielder and should remain so. Gardner has a little girls arm. The Yanks cannot go through teams taking extra bases again (bernie!). This offense should be able to carry Melky.

KVC– Melky has less range than Gardner, and Gardner has an above average arm. Don’t make shit up.

Dan I think at best Gardner has an average arm. But better range than Cabrera. What’s going to separate them is offence; who’s got it and who doesn’t.
How many people think that they have too many guy’s that are just happy to be here and not enough grinders?
