Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans is back on again

Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans will face each other at UFC 88 in Atlanta, Georgia, in September. The two were originally scheduled to fight this past weekend in London, but injuries to both fighters caused the cancellation of the fight. Liddell, the former light-heavyweight champion will take on Evans, the winner of season two of The Ultimate Fighter.
Liddell who is still recovering a torn hamstring will fight for the first time since beating Wanderlei Silva last December. Liddell is still on his way back up the light-heavyweight rankings since his back-to-back losses to Rampage Jackson and Keith Jardine. A dominant win over Evans may put Liddell back as the number one contender but I would like to see Liddell beat Evans and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua before getting another title shot. Rua, however, won’t be ready to fight until late this year, so this is a good tune-up for the Iceman.
Rashad Evans hasn’t fought since last November when he won a controversial split decision win over Michael Bisping. A win over Liddell would vault Evans up the standings and put him in title contention for sure. Evans is a teammate of Keith Jardine so he should have a good game plan for Liddell.
This will be a classic fight between a striker and a wrestler. While it’s not nearly the best fight the UFC could showcase, it should still be entertaining for everyone involved. I think Liddell will beat Evans by a knockout and then move on with his fight against Shogun Rua.
This fight will also end all the rumors of a Liddell-Anderson Silva fight which is a horrible idea. Chuck Liddell would get nothing by beating Silva and if Silva would beat Liddell he basically destroys the credibility for the light-heavyweight division. Dana White says that there are no more fights for Silva at middleweight but I disagree completely. The only fight that makes sense with a fighter switching weight classes is for BJ Penn to move up to take on Georges St-Pierre.

Yea, I don’t get it why ppl say Liddell has to get through Shogun to get a title shot. It does not make any sense. Shogun lost his last fight, not that I don’t think he’s talented and very good and maybe a future champion. But he did lose, so how can the road to a title shot be through him? that maybe a fight everyone wants to see but the road to a shot should not be through him. You know what the UFC wants? what makes the most money? Forrest beats Rampage, then Rampage against wanderlei, Chuck against Forrest, and Shogun against the predator.

I’ve been saying for nearly a year now that Rashad Evans would knockout Chuck liddell…now i finally get to see it…..Randy Couture said it best himself…Randy said Chuck would never have the skills to beat a man like Rampage or Rashad…Couture has trained with Evans and Randy said Rashad would beat Chuck with ease…EVANS Has the better boxing skills and he’s the much better wrestler…Chuck has a history of coming into fights out of shape…He throws a few punches and moves around…Rampage was able to catch him clean and knock him out…I can tell you this…Rampage is NO WHERE close to being as fast or as explosive as Rashad…This will be a very bad fight for Chuck…Evans by brutal Knockout in the second round….I don’t see any one in the light Heavy division beating Rashad….

Glass jawed Jardine? Nothing about that guys jaw is glass, did you not watch that fight? He took some shots to the head that would’ve knocked the black off of Rashad’s face. If Rashad stands with Chuck, which should be the case since he will not get him down, the Iceman wins by KO. Rashad’s only hope is to get Liddell on his back and lay on him for 15 minutes like he does everyone else. I hope you don’t lose your house on that fight.

i agree completely with rod chuch is old and fat and rashad is in shape and is a hell of a lot rounded. the only way i see chuck winning this fight is he might get lucky and catch rashad with a counter, but i seriously dont see that happening cuz rashad protects himself so well
