I Hope You All Had Your Shots Before Going To Talladega Or Lowes

Get this, some congressional aides were instructed to get immunized before going to Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Talladega, Ala.

“The House Homeland Security Committee planned a fact-finding trip about public health preparedness at mass gatherings and decided to conduct the research at two of the nation’s most heavily attended sporting events, NASCAR’s Bank of America 500 event this weekend and the UAW-Ford 500 last weekend” - CommonSenseandWonder.com

Oh boy, I went to the race at MIS this past Aug., I wonder if I should go get checked out.

Actually if you read the article, and understand the the fact that they might have toured medical facilities, it makes sense … sort of … but it still makes me scratch my head.

What I really want to see is the report that they put together after all this is said and done.

Well Bob, this is one of the lamest things I have ever heard.

With an easy 3 million plus unique people going to at least one NASCAR event in the top three series I do not see a massive amount of people getting sick after an event.

I will throw in this Washington Times link on this mess:

    Richard,

Thanks for the link, when I first read the original story I thought the same thing about those in power stereotyping all those who go to NASCAR races as backwoods rednecks and the like. To tell the truth, its far from the truth. Now that I have read your link I find that I’m not the only one who thought that.

According to a couple reports I,ve ead their excuse of touring medical facilities doesn’t hold water.

Both reports claimed the committee’s itintery included only the infield care center at Lowes and one other “empty” medical facility off track grounds.

I think their intentions were good but their execution and any consideration they gave to the outcome of the publicity they got left much to be desired.

But then again, we’re taling D.C. and the idiots that live a work there so it’s to be expected.

Every NASCAR race track has an infield care facility and you do not see many fans having to use them on race weekend.

Some people need to take a deep breath on this story. Why are Republicans so Paranoid.

Troy, for me it isn’t about politics, party politics in particular, I’m from Canada. It is more about the percieved notion of stereotyping here that people have picked up on. You are right, people need to step back and take a breath about this and look at differently.
