Previews galore and need for nasty

There’s plenty of great playoff previews on MVN, including the HoopsAddict podcast on 360.  Ryan McNeill, the host of that show, put together a collection of predictions from around the blogosphere.  Yours truly submitted a response and I see Chris Bosh as the breakout performer of the playoffs.  His Raptors lost the first game against the Nets today, so it’s not working out so far.  However, both division opponents are well within the Sixers reach for next year, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on this series.

With the Raptors quick turnaround to playoff contender status, plenty of unnecessary credit is going around.  Suddenly, Sam Mitchell is being considered a coach of the year candidate.  Bryan Coangelo made some good moves in the offseason to change the style of this team.  Chris Bosh continues to grow into a dominant big man with all the other who follow in the likes of Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.  The truth is that this team is stunk for awhile, so the time was right for the Raptors to emerge.

More truth to follow is how quickly the Sixers will rebuild back to contenders.  They actually didn’t stink this year after they went through their own change of style.  Speaking of style, check out the season recap from Brian of Depressed Fan.  The Sixers are a couple players away and will have a chance to acquire some pieces this summer with picks and trades.

While the Sixers competed admirably after the All-Star break, it will take another dominant presence inside to truly compete with the likes of Bosh, Amare Stoudimire, and Dwight Howard.  Outside of Greg Oden, the boys of Florida might have the muscle we need.  The Sixers need to get physical next year to make some serious noise.  We need  some nasty up front.  You heard me, Shavlik!  Bring it.
