Anthony “AG” Gilbert is a renowned journalist that has helped to shape the outlook on the sneaker industry, culture, and game of basketball in writing with Nike, Wieden+Kennedy, Converse, ANOMALY, Sole Collector Magazine, Complex, VIBE, SLAM, BOUNCE, PEACE Magazine, ACCLAIM (Australia) and the Florida Today newspaper. Gilbert, born in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been blessed with the opportunity to observe, and take part in one, if not two major economic and social economic events…the rise of hip-hop and the boom of the sneaker business. From this platform stories are written, told, and legends are passed down. With his contacts and relationships at various sneaker companies, and his unique blend of street and book smarts, he creates cover stories, features, and short essays mainly about the people who endorse sneakers, different sneaker happenings, and assorted trends. His interaction with industry insiders and athletes has helped to shape him into one of the most reliable sources in reporting, telling things as they are in both fiction as well as non-fiction. Anthony Gilbert, the avid sneaker fan honed his craft riding the subway system observing the world around him. He keeps close to the people with a pen in one hand and the pulse of what is prevalent in the other. Basketball is the reason for his passion of all things sneakers, as he never had the shoes he craved as a youth, citing that it was his admiration of everyone else’s sneakers that pushed him to the connoisseur status that he has become known for today. As a broadcast television major at Temple University, School of Communication and Theater, he is very natural and confident in front of the camera. With numerous appearances under his belt as the “sneaker authority”, on shows like MTV – 1 NIGHT ONLY, ESPN 2 It’s the Shoes, ESPN Classic Now, ESPN 2 Cold Pizza, Style Network’s Isaac, NBC’s 10! Show (Philadelphia NBC affiliate), and BET Style, he has presented the sneaker culture onto an entire new medium. There is no limit, as he strives to position himself as a correspondent by and large. At the end of the day, it’s his personality that shines the brightest, with his million-dollar smile, as he continues to draw upon the lessons taught to him by his mother and relatives.
