TIME TO BENCH EDDY CURRY
It is honestly a joke already that Eddy Curry gets any playing time what so ever. He is the largest one dimensional player I have ever seen play professional basketball. Isiah just face it already all he can do is score down low. He can’t grab any rebounds, can’t block any shots so teams around the league just drive right at him. Hell if I was on an opposing team I would do the same. Why not? He’s not going to block the shot. If he tries too block it he’ll foul you or simply jump without putting his arms up. Look what happend the last time the Knicks played the Lakers.
All you have to do is look at the numbers over the past two games from the opposing centers. On Sunday night Golden State Warriors center Andris Biedrins grabbed 26 rebounds!!! Yes 26 rebounds (6 were offensive) to Curry’s 4 boards. Now last night Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown had a double double with 10 points and 11 boards!! Yes, THAT Kwame Brown. Even more ridiculous then Kwame getting a double double on the Knicks is Curry grabbing a whopping 3 rebounds.
I know the argument that, ‘Well Curry wasn’t to blame he didn’t play most of the games due to foul trouble, blah blah blah.’ However, if Curry simply grabs at least 8 or 9 boards in both of these games (which is what he should be averaging at 6’11 285) he would be playing more minutes, Biedrins wouldn’t have had Wilt like rebounding numbers and players like Kwame Brown wouldn’t be putting up double doubles.
The Knicks finally got rid of one cancer in Stephon Marbury it’s time to bench the other cancer in Eddy Curry. START “Double” Lee (21 and 12 against LA) who when given playing time is a consistent rebounding threat. Zach Randolph aka “Mr. Doubles” (16 and 14) can handle the low post scoring (although he does need to cut down on the jumpers, taking 20 shots from the field is a little too much). The Knicks can get by with Curry coming off the bench and giving about 8 points a game. After all he is only averaging 14.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and .47 blocks per game this season!! Those numbers are definitely not numbers this team will miss. I’d rather see Malik Rose in there instead of Curry. At least Rose when given the playing time will grab more then 5 rebounds per game.

No not Malik! I hate Malik, but yea you are absolutely right. I would actually bench him for being over weight as well. The way Popavich bench Jackie Butler for being out of shape. I’d Ruin him, I’d let the whole NBA know why he’s being benched.
We gave up a # 1 and flip flop another one, and his fat a@# comes to camp out of shape. The guy looks like he’s wearing biker shorts.
Dump him for an expiring contract, please.

No doubt about it- Eddy is a huge detriment to the team. No defensive instincts whatsoever.

“Yeah eddy Curry sucks if I had that size I wouldn’t waste it like he is right now”

Totally agree Alex. Curry plays like a girl. A wimpy girl.

I love seeing a center getting criticized because he couldn’t handle Kwame Brown. That just shows how bad the Lakers center is… if he had a double-double ever, then the center he scored that on deserves to be cut from his team!!! I love it!!!

Everyone is wrong. Curry is amazing. Let all the other NBA players waste their time with “jumping” and “effort”. Curry has to maintain a specific caloric intake everyday and Andris Biedrins’ 26 rebounds would surely get in the way of that. Curry should not be wasting all that energy. If he does then he might run the risk of losing some of that head fat. That would be a shame, because then Curry’s head would stop looking like an outboard boat engine. Curry is regarded around the league as the next shaq. He is so good he does not have to waste his time expelling all that energy. If the Knicks are smart they will give Curry a contract extension and hopefully pay him somewher in the $20-25million range. That money will result in likely, 3-5 NBA championships with Curry controlling the paint.

what about playing balkman more? or chandler and randolph morris?

Alex- Agreed, why not give the rookie some minutes. He is one of the few rookies right now not playing. Bad teams are supposed to let young guys play. Maybe he will be a surprise and solve some of the team’s issues.

Yeah I agree about Curry, b/c we are playing a different brand of ball right now. I’m lovin the intensity of Lee, Lil Nate, Balks and Crawford. I would for Balks to get more time and I wish Jefferies could get more bench time.
I would also like to see what Morris can do in there w/ playing time.

Would like a trade of Curry and Balkman for Kidd and some utility guy? I don’t know I love Kidd but I want to keep Balks!

Trade we need: Works under ESPN Trade Machine
Curry for Drew Gooden and Dwayne Jones (a throwin, hes expiring). That would make us a differnet team immediately, and Cavs need low post scorer

I would take 5 Eddie Curry’s to battle any day.

[…] don’t fit. Tell us about it. Oh, and Utah is “The Ostertag State”. Father Knickerbocker calls for an Eddy Curry benching… and mentions the most recent games. Andris Biedrins had 26 boards (Curry had 4) and Kwame […]

While your points have truth to them, your focus should be on Isiah Thomas’ substitution patterns, primarily the one that took David Lee out of the game for the final four-plus minutes. I was at the Staples Center last night for the game and couldn’t believe he never came back. I understand Lee has to get a blow, but at least do it earlier in the quarter instead of when it’s crunch time.

I agree with you larry Isiah’s substitutions are insane. I feel like he just does this to bulster players’ stats so he can trade him ie: Mardy Collins starting and only playing 10 minutes in the game, Jared Jeffries getting minutes over Balkman, etc. etc.

Yeah, I would like to see more of Balks, Lee and Robinson on the court and down the stretch. I know Collins was in to defend williams but how’d that work out for us? I would have kept Lil Nate in, And is it me or is Jefferies getting a lot of time lately? I hope you’re right Alex, trading him would be ok with me.

E-City needs a change of scenery or a coach that can motivate a 7′0 360 pound offensive player. Someone get Curry Andrew Bynums digits.

Honestly he’d probably be best in Chi-town, they have the shot blockers and rebounders they’re missing the low post threat to balance Deng.

curry would have been best if he went to college and learned some fundamentals.
