DUHON DEALS
Happy 4th of July everyone!
Thank you, Corey Maggette. Kevin Bradbury, Chris Duhon’s agent, confirmed that Duhon celebrated his July 4th by verbally committing to the New York Knicks. The agreement is a two-year contract for roughly $6.5 million. I thank Maggette because Orlando didn’t want to extend Duhon a formal offer until after they could explore Maggette first. The Bulls former backup point guard chose the Knicks because they courted him on the first day of free agency and extended him an offer immediately.
Duhon, or any other free agent, can’t officially sign anywhere until July 9th. A source close to Donnie Walsh said Duhon’s signing does not mean Stephon Marbury will be demoted or bought out. The plan, until further notice, is to have Duhon compete with Marbury for the starting job.
“You only get so many chances to get your game to the next level and to be able to be a starter,” Bradbury said. “He’s been told he’ll be given every opportunity to win that job.”
I am very pleased this worked out, knock on wood. Anything can happen so I wont be totally convinced until the 9th but this is good news. Duhon should not only win the starting job immediately but I think he’ll thrive in this system because he can pass, play very good defense and shoot the three. Mike D’Antoni’s system will boost his scoring average right away.
I think this was a very smart signing. Great Job Donnie Walsh! Now keep it going. We have a ways to go.

Celtics fan here. Congrats on getting Duhon, but I’m still wondering what the “Walsh plan” is. IMO, Marbury needs to go. It’s really a shame because he had all he makings of a super-elite NBA star.

I think marbury is on his way out. Its Duhon at the starting job. But I don’t think Duhon is good enough to be a constant starter. They should get some good trade value for Marbury but his contract is atrocious.

Fucking Knicks excuse my foul language but the more things change the more they stay the same around them. They ended up giving him the FULL mid level WHY? oh Magic had interest so what go to ORL then dumbass, I mean what a shot at starting and upping your value is not enough? no you rather go to Magic and ride the pine as a bit player. See that’s what kills me I think he signs with Knicks no matter what and the Knicks got played LIKE ALWAYS! we over pay role players year in and year out and why? James, Jared and the list goes on and on and on…. I’m SICK of it. AND BE CLEAR READERS IM NOT SAYING HE CANT DO GOOD IN NY AND MAYBE START BUT WHY KEEP OVERPAYING!!!!!! that’s my beef not the signing but the offer being bumped up.

what foul mouthed ruskie evidently doesn’t understand, probally because the stolly is not out of his body yet, is this signing is up when wade, lebron, and the other big names are free agents in 2 years. so instead of the nets getting lebron, maybe we have a shot and have enough money to sign him and anyone else avialable he may want as a teammate. I’m sure when ivan sobers up he will see the light.

Listen up Tucker you must not got my point and you can’t be schooling me on the cap or the FA to be in 2yrs cause i’m not an idiot. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS DEAL! or how much they paying him over the next 2 seasons. Furthermore as much as I would love to see Bron Bron Wade or Bosh in NY there’s no real reason to believe we will land any of them. You hoping on a dream and im dealing in reality.

Guys calm down or you WILL be monitored! I dont mind a few f-bombs or whatever every once in a while but you will not attack people on here or you will go elsewhere.
That being said, Ivan Duhon’s deal is for 2 years because of the 2010 class so it DID affect his deal however you are absolutely right that we have NO IDEA where any of the 2010 FAs will go. We dont even know if they will be free agents at all. Who knows if the Cavs dont drop the bank on Lebron next season to lock him up? Our team cant be built around what ifs. It is very good for Walsh to have that goal though because even if that class never reaches FA eventually there will be a star out there. But you are very right that we need to stop talking about Lebron, Wade and Bosh until the middle of the 2009 season AT LEAST!
Now boys, play nice. Father is watching.

You guys are really clueless I see… damn shame this is the state of the Knick fan. The funny thing is both of you missed my point on what I was trying to say n its right there in plain english. Remember a Time when Duncan and Grant Hill where part of a big FA class some years ago…yeah well a lot of teams hung there hat on landing those 2 along with some others only to get left holding the bag. Face it as much as we like to talk about guys wanting to play at the Garden it’s a myth. players like coming in and killing us in the Garden but name me 1 FA in the last 20yrs other then B. King that wanted to play for the Knicks and I dont mean someone we landed cause we OUTBID everyone. theres plenty of teams that land FA without having to give away the house and the kitchen sink. So you gonna say they didnt give the kitchen sink to Duhon but they DID they gave him the MAX Mid Level just like Jared and James got in the past few yrs. so FORGET Bron Bron that has nothing to do with what I’m trying to get across to you guys!

Chris Duhon reportedly gives Knicks verbal commitment…
It looks like Mike D’Antoni is already at it. If they can get a couple of key pieces the Knicks might be able to right all of Thomas’ wrongs….
