Final thoughts before the draft
Ok Magic fans, here is your final pre-draft article. My last opinions are coming out now, so you can either pat me on the back or call me an arse depending on what happens. Here is basically a breakdown of what to look for tonight…
Big or Small: Orlando needs to add depth at the guard and power forward positions, and the Magic are in a decent spot to do so. Shooting guard (or a combo guard) seems to be a little more of an immediate need, but where Orlando is selecting, the odds point to a forward.
The Magic will probably be in a position to grab Jason Thompson, who could be an ideal fit. Guys like Darrell Arthur, JaVale McGee, Robin Lopez, DeAndre Jordan or Speights could fall to Orlando as well. In a blogger team draft I did today, Kosta Koufos fell to Orlando and you bet I snatched him up.
Courtney Lee isn’t my top choice, but he will likely be Orlando’s. After Lee, Chris Douglas-Roberts is the only guard the Magic will take in the first round, unless a guy like Mario Chalmers falls. As I was writing this, Damien brought up the promise Orlando made to Lee, which isn’t a surprise at all.
J.J Bait: Will Redick be traded for another pick or to move up in the draft? It seems unlikely that Orlando will be willing to part with the sniper because of the potential hole that will be left at SG if Keyon Dooling and Mo Evans leave. If the Magic do trade him, they will need to bring in a guard through compensation or in this draft, or free agency, because the Magic could potentially be very thin at guard.
Will Orlando move up or down: Otis Smith seems to be saying no, and in all honesty, I don’t see it happening. I heard an Orlando/ New York rumor, but I believe there is little validity to it. I think Otis is confident where he is sitting and knows a guy like Lee or Thompson would make solid contributions right away.
Will Orlando trade to the second round: I’d say it is more likely to happen than not. A guy like Joey Dorsey or D.J White are guys that Orlando is reportedly high on, and both could represent great value in the second round. A lot of that will depend on what Orlando does in the first round.
Thoughts on moves made today: O’Neal to Toronto- Good, I’m glad, give them another lengthy, frail big man who Dwight can push around. They will have a better regular season record, no doubt, but if the Raptors play Orlando in the playoffs next year, they won’t be able to go small again, and those bigs can’t stop Dwight, maybe by getting him in foul trouble.
Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee for Yi and Bobby Simmons: The Nets are basically waiving the white flag, and I’m not sure how much Jefferson help the Bucks. Michael Redd and Jefferson will make a formidable wing pair, but can either be consistent enough to get the job done?

Ok Dean, Magic92, Damien and anyone else who joins in, here is where we will be commenting on the draft, the Magic and anything else. Let’s have fun, this should be an entertaining night and it will give us a better indication of what Orlando will do the rest of the season.
A little over an hour and a half till the draft begins. I am going to grab some dinner and I will be back in 30 minutes, so you then guys
June 26th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
we will be here brendan!! get your grub on and we will get fired up for magic time!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
i hope we can land white or dorsey if we get the extra pic, but i think we need to address the 2 guard before power forward, cause dont forget about battie, who missed al last year due to injury, and marcin gortat who looked great towards the end of the playoffs..
June 26th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I’m back….Buffalo dogs, interesting.
I definitley agree, shooting guard needs to be addressed, but Lee and CDR are the only viable options in the first where Orlando stands.I dont see any talented guards in the second who can contribute immediatley.
A Lee first, Dorsey/White/Hendrix second situation would be ideal and fairly realistic. Actually, that is likely what we will see tonight, but anything can happen I guess.
June 26th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
so you are saying that we got the second rd pic or are you just assuming
June 26th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Assuming still. I think it, will happen, but a lot will depend on what happens in the first. If Orlando goes big, I dont think it happens. If Orlando goes Lee in the first, the Magic trade into the 2nd.
June 26th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
an hour till the draft starts…
June 26th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
who is this kid lee? how tall is he?
June 26th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Courtney Lee, 6′5″ 200 lb. guard from Western Kentucky…he is a great shooter, decent defender and can create his own shot. My only problem with him is that he is similar to JJ, just bigger and more athletit, so something will have to give.
June 26th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Here is his NBA Draft.net profile…http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/courtneylee.html
He is really consistent and has averaged 15 or more PPG all four years of college (14.9 as a frosh)
June 26th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
id rather have CDR bigger, and a more aggressive scoring threat
June 26th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Im surprised CDR has dropped as much as he has. Will he fit in our system? That is the main concern to me
June 26th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
well he is big, can creat his own shot, great at driving to the basket, but isnt the best defender, but compared to jj he is gary payton!! lol we need an aggressive scorer
June 26th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I think the trading of RJ for Yi works out for the Nets far more in the end.
I know RJ and Redd sounds solid, but RJ, VC, and Kidd sounded great, and they never did much of anything. I still don’t view the Bucks as a playoff caliber team, and if that’s the case, why trade for a player 8 years older?
Now the Nets on the other hand did a few good things with this move. One, they got a talented 20 year old with plenty of potential. But probably more important, they dumped a large salary. You better bet they are setting up to make a run at King James in 2010.
June 26th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Otis smith said he didnt like CDR, but he could be putting up a smoke-screen.
I agree Damien, and it is obvious that they are making room for LeBron…yikes
June 26th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
the nets are going to try to get lebron in 2010 thats why they dumped the salary, and if the nets move to brroklyn, lebron and jay z are great friends, watch and mark this down lebron will be a net in 2010
June 26th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Remember Bron wearing that Yankees cap? It should be interesting to see the Knicks try to move some players to make room in 2010 too
June 26th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
na!!! he will be a net!!! knicks suck!!! i just hope dorsey will be a magic
June 26th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Dicky V just gave CDR two big thumbs up
June 26th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Lol, I love the fans and teams from up north, they make sports what they are
June 26th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
yeah ho bout them NY giants baby!!!!
let me stop its all about the magic now
June 26th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
i get enough of that from my dad. As a Jaguars fan, I have never experienced the joy of being in a SB, none the less winning one.
June 26th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
yeah i remember when we lost 34 to 7 in the superbowl to the ravens, that was the worst day ever, next to the four game sweep in 1995 when those houston rockets beat our heads in.. ill never forget that shaq got dominated by hakkem olajuwon dont hate my spelling please lol
June 26th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Predictable, I got called outside, come back 15 mins later, and the draft hasnt started yet
June 26th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
No surprise here, Rose goes first.
June 26th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Funny Dean… I was just watching game 1 of the 95 Finals last night. We kicked the crap out of the Rockets. Shaq more than held his own, but Nick and especially Penny was the key. Penny was so amazing back in his day. It’s so sad the direction his career took due to injuries.
It’s so weird watching that game today. I was at that game, just turned 15. Oh how time flies…
As for that years sweep, I blame Brian Hill.
Draft time; I’m about 20 minutes behind. DVR;)
June 26th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Sorry, i wont ruin it for you Damien.
That 95 team was soooo good. I was 5, but I have a highlight film and their ball-movement was incredible.
Imagine if B Hill wasnt here
June 26th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
this is taking too long. its going to be a while till orlando pics
June 26th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
yup….better than the NFL draft though, that was brutal, although they expediated things this year.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
it still took too long!!! it should only be 5 mins like the nba
June 26th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
13 more pics!!!! 65 more mins!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
those extra two minutes between picks add up.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
yeah i know i forgot bout that!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Man, I felt bad for Danilo Gallinari. You know it’s gotta be tough getting your ass booed from you soon to be home fans.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
sorry i am late i was out playing BASKETBALL lol. ok it seems that rush, anthony randolph(compared to chris bosh), Darrell arthur, and Marresse speights are still on the board. hopefully one of them drops because these guys can really contribute to the orlando magics.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
ok, im going to be back in about 25 minutes, hopefully before the magics pick. BEST OF LUCK TO ORLANDO AND THE FANS
June 26th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Damn, Thompson goes really early.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Thanks Magic92, maybe Orlando should draft you (probably would be better than some other first-round picks)
June 26th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
not the first guy New York has booed, but he seemed to handle himself well.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
ok amrio chalmers time?
June 26th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Still some good big men left, Chalmers is there too, picking lee wont be easy.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Tor, Wash, Char and NJ wont take him. That leaves Cleveland
June 26th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
lol, thanks brendan. i can give the magics some great D and i have a great J
June 26th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Yes he did Brendan. I hope the kid wins the fans over. One thing with NY fans, if you play hard, they will love you (ala David Lee).
Magic92, where do you play?
I knew Rush would be gone, but I didn’t expect 13.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
if i didnt tear my acl senior year i would have played at Central Connecticut State University, but i blew my knee out senior year and ended up going into the navy go figure
June 26th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
ok, darrel arthur and marresse speights are still on board. hopefully one of them drops.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
darrell arthur would be great
June 26th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Damien Nielsen, i play in my street. I’m practicing so i can make my highschool basketball team this year. its gonna be hard but i think i can do it.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
speights is out now
June 26th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
My Dad went to cent. Conn…sorry about your knew, that sucks. I broke my leg real bad my senior year in football…
Speights is gone.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
try your best magic92 show your coach that you dont quit and give it everything you got at every moment and i guarantee you will make the team bud
June 26th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
crap, speights got picked by Philadelphia. darrell arthur is still on the board.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
What school are you going to Magic92?
Damien, I think NY will like the kid, the boo just about anyone…
Koufos is still there, man I would love him next to Dwight
June 26th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
yeah i was real good i still am but i lost a lot on my verticle i never had surgery so im sure in a few years its gonna give out again… but thats me lets get a HEALTHY player and get this second rd pick
June 26th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
I’m 5′8″ and hadnt played bball in months when I was a freshman because I was playing football. I went to practice and made the first cut, which was a huge deal considering I ahdnt played much and that Dr. Phillips has one of the best Bball programs in the state. I didnt get picked largely cause of my height, but husteling, working hard and doing whatever the coach says gets you far.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
roy hibbert??????
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
A healthy player always helps…and that 2nd wont be announced (IF it happens) until after the pick I believe due to NBA rules.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
thanks for the advice dean, ill be sure to do that. brendan i live in philadelphia, so im going to northeast highschool. kids in philadelphia can play, so i got to up my game alot in the summer and hopefully i’l make it. and hope your leg gets better fast brendan
June 26th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Hibbert, that is great for Orlando!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
oh wow i didnt no that thanks for the info, but how far after the deal is made and the player was picked do they announce the trade?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Thanks and good luck Magic92….I think Arthur goes to Cleveland
June 26th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
toronto selects roy hibbert. Questionable move, i thought they were going to selct mario chalmers.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
toronto doesnt get the pic i believe it is for indiana
June 26th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
ok 5 picks away arthur is still on the board, and i wanted him for months. does anyone think he’ll drop to orlando?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:12 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:14 pm

wow come on darrell fall to orlando please
June 26th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Wow….Hickson
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
That doesnt make sense….Cleveland wants to keep leBron, right? Hickson could be good, but he is ra, he’s only a frosh….
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Magic92, good luck to you. Just work hard, hustling can make up for a many faults. But hard work, and playing “team basketball” is always important. Also, coaches loved fundementally sound players.
Arthur and Chalmers are still available.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
am i missing something here. Is there something wrong with darrell arthur that we dont know about?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Watch Orlando take some foriegn guy…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
thanks for thr advice Damien Nielsen. I’ll admit im kinda nervous, but i know i can make it.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
yeah, practice with the left hand, a lot of kids cant do it.
I dont know whats wrong with arthur…he’s a tweener, but game is game. Maybe there is an injury, I am very surprised the way thnigs are gonig right now
June 26th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
no dont say that brendan
June 26th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
ok charlote has to pick arthur right? hes to good to drop this far.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Portland will be a serious playoff caliber team next season; but that’s a given if Oden comes back healthy.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
yeah i think charlotte takes him
June 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
i am practicing with the left hand and its not that hard, honestly. i can layup with my left hand pretty good and dribble with it to.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Fran Vazquez part 2….
Portland can contend even without Oden, it’s scary to think of them with him.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
who is this guy? alexy??>??
June 26th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
WTF, I love it
June 26th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
WOOOOOO DARREL ARTHUR LIVES. NJ cant take him now, they already have good big men.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
i think youd be freaking out Magic92…funny story, I wanted Okafor (Im a UCONN fan) over Howard and I was pissed…Glad I wasnt in charge of that draft. I was like 15 then, so I wasnt looking at the big picture.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:32 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
lol this is too much there has to be something wrong.. but can a superstar PF realy mesh with a superstar C that will limit dwights touches, rebouds, and presence in the post, which i dont like the sound of
June 26th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
lol brendan i am 15 years old now. and when we selected dwight howard i had no idea. i thought we only picked jameer nelson in that draft, lol
June 26th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
i bet they take chalmers!!!! watch arthur will fall past us, and will be a superstar wherever he goes… id rather take CDR then chalmers but we will see
June 26th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Arthur and Kofous are both guys who can draw defenders away from the hope….I think it’ll work, but i dont want to get ahead of myself.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
dean, darrel arthur is the best player available, several mock drafts had him goin in the top 15. we have to pick him
June 26th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
lol i remember those days when i was fifteen it was 1997 and we were a team that was getting rebuilded i cant even tell you who we drafted in that draft,
June 26th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
I think we do trade into teh early second. Kofous, Arthur, Dorsey, White and Hendrix might be there.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
We might pull a trade off to get into the first again
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
can anyone tell me something about courtney lee?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
i realy hope we get dorsey havent i been saying that all along brendan!! how sweet would that be he isnt selfish or a great offensive player he is a great rebounder and shot bloker who will realy help dwight in the post
June 26th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
if we tradew JJ to pick arthur that will be MAGICal
June 26th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I’m watching the webcam or the Magic war room. They are walking around in a happy fashion. It’s not like I’m disappointed in the pick, it’s just what I expected, and I wanted more.
This draft has been boring. I was really expecting a exciting night, with some big surprises and trades. Guess not…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
yeah i am not happy with this pick at all another crappy draft by orlando.. didnt otis say we were going to not draft by need but by best available player… lee was not the best available player
June 26th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
i was to damien, but the draft isnt over yet. i think we can still get darrel arthur using JJ Redick as traid bait
June 26th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Exactly, it has gone as planned for orlando, the team just had a difficut decesion….
We will see about trades guys. Does the war room look like they are getting back to buisness.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
jj reddick i dont think has alot of trade value i hope he does because i would love to see us get white, arthur, dorsey, not in that order
June 26th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I wouldnt be surprised to see a trade up into the first, but more likely the second
June 26th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
damien hows the webcam look in the war room
June 26th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:52 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:53 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
It’s pretty scattered right now. At this point, it looks like people are getting interested in going home.
You all have been to parties before. You know what it looks when a party it ending. “This place is dead anyways”…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Some of the guys are back in their seats now in the war room. It looks like Bob went home though. Ha-ha…
This would be a great time to have a early 2nd round pick. There is a lot of potential still left. Make a trade, or buy a damn pick!
June 26th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
hey everytime you go somewhere something exciting happens brendan take a long piss!!! lol just playing
June 26th, 2008 at 9:06 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
hes going to portalnd though
June 26th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
JJ has to be saying good bye. Lee is a lot like him, but more well-rounded. The more I think about it, the more I like the pick
June 26th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
come on brendan do you realy like this pick? id rather have CDR or chalmers instead of him at guard, at forward id rather have arthur, white
June 26th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
CDR TO MEMPHIS
June 26th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
OR GASOL 2
June 26th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Not a sexy pick, but if you look at what the team needs, I think he fits the bill. Time will tell I guess, but Orlando needs a guy who can contribute at guard right away and lee can do that. dooling probably wont be back, and Evans might be gone too. CDR has talent, no doubt, but he doesnt fit SVGs system, while Lee seems to. Like I said though, time will tell.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Otis is back in his seat. I’m pretty sure Bo is in there dancing around. Ha-ha…
I’m jealous of the Hornets now…

June 26th, 2008 at 9:16 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
HOPEFULLY THEY GIVE US ARTHUR, FOR THE CASH THAT WAS WANTED THAT WOULD BE GREAT
June 26th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
white’s stock ahs slipped a lot, he could go into the mid-2nd, easily.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Yeah, so next year Portland will be adding Oden, Bayless, and Arthur…
Damn…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Thats would be nice…like I said, Portland knows what they are doing though
June 26th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
PORTLAND IS GONNA BE NASTY BUT TOO MANY BIGS NOT ENOUGHT TIME
June 26th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
They have plenty of time. They are a damn young team.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Portland is goin to be very very good next year. They have so many good bigs and very good guards
June 26th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
It’s in a laid back mode. It def doesn’t look like anything is happening…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
WELL IF THERE IS A TRADE THAT TEAM WOULD HAVE TO MAKE THE SELECTIN RIGHT? THEN TRADE THAT PLAYER TO ORLANDO? MAYBEE WE ALREADY MADE A DEAL AND ARE WAITING IT OUT.. I CAN HOPE AND DREAM RIGHT
June 26th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
You can, and I am dreaming with ya
June 26th, 2008 at 9:29 pm

June 26th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
A GUARD
June 26th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
BETTER THAN HAVING HIS BUT RIDING THE BENCH AND TAKING UP MONEY AND SPACE
June 26th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
We need to make some other kind of deal, even if small. There is still talent and pontential out there.
I know I said, comment, and article…”one and done”.
I didn’t want to be right…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I dont want you to either Damien, but unforutnaley, you usually are. I was thiknig theyd do something to trade into the second.
I could see J.J for cash and a 2nd.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
YES ME EITHER DAMIEN.. WE NEED TO MAKE A MOVE AND QUICK, WE HAVE NO REAL FORWARD THAT CAN HELP DWIGHT, AND WE REALY NEED BODYS DOWN LOW AND THE PROOF IS IN THE DETROIT SERIES WE COULDNT STOP ANYTHING
June 26th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Ah, Dean, don’t forget how close that series was with Detroit. That series could have easily went the other way. I’m still not convinced that we need a “true power foward”.
Honestly, I was very happy with our front court. I’ve always said that we need a legit power forward coming off the bench at least. Battie could be that guy…
In my mind, our biggest problem is the 2 spot. We need an impact player there. Is Lee that guy, who knows…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Lee fits in all the needs we needs at SG
June 26th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
YES I KNOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN 3-1 ORLANDO, BEING THAT SHOT FROM BILLIPS, AND THOSE HORRIBLE CALLS DOWN THE STRETCH, BUT WITH THAT BEING SAID, BATTIE IS INJURY PRONE, AND IS GETTING UP THERE IN AGE, CAN HE STILL DEFEND AFTER A YEAR OFF? WITH BOSTON AND DETROIT HAVING BUNDLES OF BODIES TO THROW AT U
June 26th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Seattle gets more picks…if we have a partner, that’ll be it
June 26th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Best moment of the draft….Seattle drafts Walter Sharp from UAB, and some fan screams “yeah!”
June 26th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
HERES PORTLANDS PIC… WILL IT BE ORLANDO’S? WE WILL SEE WHO THEY PIC HOPEFULLY THEY TAKE JOEY DORSEY CAUSE IF THEY DO THEY ALREADY AHVE ALOT OF BIGS WHICH COULD MEAN A TRADE
June 26th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Wish you were hear during the playoffs Dean, caught some shit from Detroit fans, namely the Detroit writer here at MVN, not very professional
June 26th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
LOL I WAS LAUGHING AT THAT TOO? WHOI IS THIS SHARP GUY? I BET IF I WAS 7 FEET TALL I WOULD BE THE BEST CENTER IN THE NBA GUARANTEED.. NOW ALL I NEED TO DO IS GROW 10 INCHES!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
The thing we all have to remember, is todays NBA, is NOT a big mans game.
i think we are fine startin Turk, Lewis, and Howard in our front cout. I will still put them against any front court in the entire world. Now don’t get me twisted on that statement. I know our roster needs help… But, a physical, aggressive, hard working/garbage man doesn’t have to be a big man.
We’ve got more than solid production from out front court. Sure, we struggle with rebounds at times, or physical teams… But you know what, we cause a lot of mismatch problems and get a lot of production out of our front court.
The only “inconsistent” areas we have on this team is in the backcourt, especially the 2 spot, and our bench.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
DORSEY TOLD YA
June 26th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Could be
June 26th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Yeah boy! Good call
June 26th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
YEAH BENCH IS A KEY NO MORE DOOLING, OR POSSIBLY FOYLE, AND ARROYO
June 26th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
CALLED IT BRENDAN WATCH DORSEY TO MAGIC WATCH I SEE IT HAPPENING
June 26th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Funny, if that happens, thats how I called it a while back, lee 1, Dorsey 2. Hope the trade does go down. Whats the war room look like?
June 26th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
what pics did seattle get in the white trade?
June 26th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I agree, i really do.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Portland raped this draft…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
IDK, so am confused right now.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
portland made out like bandits, and think greg odens wil lbe back too. wow portland will be a contender in the west next year i just hope they give us dorsey for reddick
June 26th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I bet we buy it off of them…I will be really surprised if Dorsey wasnt our pick
June 26th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
so whats the war room look like damien? do we have a shot
June 26th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
yeah i think dorsey is ours as well, and if we keep jj than you can be sure that evans and dooling are gone
June 26th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
brendan what do you think about this dorsey deal? im getting nervous hopefully we can get him.. vasquez looks like a no show
June 26th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Very true Dean. JJ, lee and Bogans isnt bad at all. Through in a MLE and it is a unique yet foridable group
June 26th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
It might take a while for the lawyers to look at it, but I think that was Orlando, seemed to perfect. It takes a while for trades to kick in
June 26th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
i just hope we arent done yet tonight.. MLE? what does that mean
June 26th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Something to remember, the Magic view Dooling as a backup point first.
The war room looks close to the same, but a little more attentive.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
lets hope so.. dorsey would be a perfect fit in orlando
June 26th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
lets go magic!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
come on trade call it call it!!!!
June 26th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
cdr to nets
June 26th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
I like Hendrix too, I wouldnt mind that at all
June 26th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
WE WILL SOON SEE HOPEFULLY SOON BECAUSE WE NEED SOME HELP
June 26th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
I agree, dont get too nervous yet, if the trade doesnt get done by 50, then I might start figeting a little.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
the dj white trade didnt take this long so im thinking it isnt gonna happen. well it looks like otis is content in lee and thats it so heres to another unproductive offseason for the magic, and another subpar postseason awaits us. we realy need some defensive help hopefully battie comes back healthy
June 26th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
here is what the Magic media sent out….
Orlando selects 6’5” guard from Western Kentucky with 22nd overall pick
Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic have selected guard Courtney Lee in the first round (22nd overall) of NBA Draft 2008.
Lee (6”5”, 200, 10/3/85) played four seasons at Western Kentucky University, averaging 17.6 ppg., 5.2 rpg., 2.2 apg. and 1.91 stlpg. in 127 career games. He started every game he played at WKU. Lee also shot .401 (245-611) from three-point range and .817 (389-476) during his collegiate career.
Lee was named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference for three consecutive seasons (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08) and was the 2007-08 Sun Belt Player of the Year. He leaves WKU tied with Jim McDaniels as their all-time leading scorer with 2,238 points. Lee also ranks first in games started (127), minutes played (3,957) and free throw percentage (.817), second in three-point field goals made (245) and steals (242), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.401), and ninth in assists (281) and blocked shots (78).
As a senior (2007-08), Lee averaged 20.4 ppg., which ranked second in the Sun Belt and 28th in the nation, and led the Hilltoppers to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. He netted 20-or-more points 19 times and had 30-plus points three times, including a career-high 33 points vs. Arkansas State. Lee scored 735 points, which ranks third all-time in school history for points during a single season. He also ranked fifth in the conference in steals (1.81 stlpg.) and seventh in free throw percentage (.822).
During his junior campaign (2006-07), Lee averaged a team-high 17.3 ppg. (fifth in Sun Belt) and shot a team-best .840 from the free throw line. He scored 20-or-more points 13 times. As a sophomore, Lee led the Hilltoppers in rebounding (6.3 rpg.), assists (2.9 apg.) and steals (2.57 stlpg.), while ranking second in scoring (17.4 ppg.). He also set a school freshman record in 2004-05 with 461 points in 31 games.
Lee majored in sociology and had a minor in criminology while at Western Kentucky University. He attended Pike High School in Indianapolis, IN.

June 26th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
well he can score but we have alot of scorers we need defense. turk avgs 19 dwight 24 lewis 18 nelson 16 thats what 75 points roughly from your starters?
June 26th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
He is actually a good defender. If he was a little longer he’d be great. He gets around 2 steals a game…he can play D too, but I agree, a shut-down defender needs to be addressed. Thing is, you dont get that in a rookie usually, so a free-agent perimiter defender makes sense
June 26th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
its winding down and still no news on joey doresy and seatle who recieved extra pics has the 46th pic and could very well be ours as well so lets cross our fingers and hope that dorsey is ours
June 26th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
My freind mentioned one thing to consider….because of all the big names taken in the second round (really unprecidented) we might wait to see a lot of trades go down in a couple of days.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
well hopefully that isnt the case id much rather go to sleep knowing we drafted two players instead of one.. hey a little off the topic but i heard that the jags might try to snatch up jeremy shockey from my boys he would be nasty there and the jags are looking better and better
June 26th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
He’s is a solid defender. He has the potential to be a really good one.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Wow, I didnt hear that. i would like that for the Jags, good move for you guys to make a trade, he’s worn out his welcome in NY.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
yeah he needs to go but i heard the jags are offering there 2009 second round pic for him im not sure jerry reese is feeling that though.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
damien any news in the war room?
June 26th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Hmmm, Reese is smart, but that might be fair. jags need a good TE, Lewis will probably be gone in a year or two. Just hope if he didnt come here he wouldnt disrupt chemistry.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
well as long as you dont ask him to block you will be fine!! lol i think the jags might actually win the division next year if garrard can play as consistent as he did, and he had one of the best TD to INT ratio in the league last year
June 26th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
I think so too, this is their year. A SB isnt out of reach
June 26th
