Mavs set for summer league

For those of you that are already missing basketball as we enter the dog days of summer, your luck has finally turned.  Beginning Friday, the NBA Summer League tips off in Las Vegas, and dozens of professional hoops hopefuls both young and old will showcase their talent and compete for a chance to make it on a NBA team.  The Mavericks’ summer league schedule and 11-man roster was released today.

The Mavs will play five games in Vegas before heading to Salt Lake City to play six more at the Rocky Mountain Revue.  Some of the notable players that Mavericks fans might recognize are Gerald Green, Shan Foster, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Reyshawn Terry, Ronnie Seibutis, Richie Frahm and Keith McLeod.

Coach Carlisle and his assistants are expected to have practices every day this week leading up to their first game against the Clippers on Friday, so I’ll have more if anything of note happens.

Where is Derrick Low on this roster? I thought he was going to play on the Mavs summer team.

That’s a good question, as I recall a number of outlets reporting that he would be on the Mavs’ summer league roster just after the draft. There’s a chance that the team could invite one or two more players to Vegas and/or Salt Lake before the week is over, and Low very well could be one of them.

If not, blame it on the (reported) Barea signing…
