Ratliff to Return

It looks as if Joe Dumars and the Pistons will make, what I believe, a better move in addressing their front line depth issue. Instead of Dale Davis returning, former 1995 draft pick Theo Ratliff is headed back to the Motor City.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived the veteran forward-center and have agreed to a buyout of his deal. His $11.6 million cap figure will certainly get Ratliff through waivers and the Pistons will sign him to a pro-rated amount of the veteran minimum, or about $1.3 million.

The 34 year old Ratliff averaged 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 10 games this season after returning from a knee injury suffered November 16. He played his first two and a half seasons with Detroit before being dealt to Philadelphia in the Jerry Stackhouse deal.
