Rockets split B2B roadie against Warriors-Suns

And very quickly, Houston finds themselves at the fifth seed in the West. Of course, things could change by breakfast. Such is the daily routine of any NBA fan west of the Mississippi; constantly checking the box scores and what changed overnight in the standings that will determine the matchups for the upcoming postseason.

The Rockets really looked good Friday night against a quality opponent on the road, upending Golden State 109-106 to break the two-game losing streak that followed the sick 22-game stretch we’ve enjoyed recently. TMAC’s production was back where it should be with 26 points, eight boards and rebounds, and the team welcomed back Carl Landry (17 of his own) from his time off due to injury. Dude is still listed as 7th in the Rook of the Year standings behind leader Luis Scola. Nice for H-town to have two guys listed in that category still. Looking at the box score for them:

Carluis Scolandry: 27 pts 18 reb 10/18 shooting. Nice pickup at the 4, Mr. Morey.

Is it just me or are all the games feeling like the playoffs are already here? Well, essentially, they are. Losses here can cut you out of the post-season altogether if you’re not careful, and every win not only keeps you alive, but positions you for a potentially better matchup. I can’t remember a year where the last two months were so crucial - certainly makes it much more interesting.

I see that Loren Wood got some PT in tonight’s game. Don’t know much about the guy yet, but you can’t teach height. The fifth-year player out of AZ stands 7-2, so that should help provide the beef up front the team is lacking against those teams expected to give them trouble in the paint. The Celtics demonstrated that rather rudely, and Phoenix showed it again tonight as Shaq (23 points) and Stoudamire (38 points) had their way with them in the Suns 122-113 victory, although it took Phoenix til a few minutes left in the game to put it away. Those pesky Rockets kept it close, refusing to give up. Two of the three losses this week were on the back end of a back to back schedule against playoff teams. They get a break, then it’s back to Houston for some home cooking against Sacramento and Minnesota, before hitting the road again to face the Spurs in the I-10 rivalry.

Marking my calendar for Monday, April 14th for the game @ Utah…. oh, precious moments these are.. precious moments..

Nice— hateful comments on a MAV blog about a player that gets hurt… HA! you sure are a class act jackass! And WHY do we keep having Rocket “fans’ on MAV arenas?? Half the country has forgotten the Rockets even exist! HA! I will try and remember yall are done there… in Houston..hmm. whatever. T-mac–original.. (jackass) Whether we win or lose the great thingabout a MAV FAN is that we are always here!!! And SPUD and FLOCKET fans hate that don’t they??!! I think its a riot that EVEN after ALLLL of the games the Flockets won—NOONE was even talking about them! HA! Poor poor babies— the ugly girl at prom all season in SPITE of their record! HA! That’s too funny. And the SPUDS— just don’t use the restrooms in San An.. they drink from the same bowl they pee in…oh, no that’s the Riverwalk–now THAT’S class isn’t it?! HA! All of you MAV bashers just keep doing what ya do because we could care less— we’ve heard it all and your yapping is nothing original… too bad you can’t go on your OWN site (where you would think “fans” would be?? Don’t even have enough sense for that) but you must LOVE the DMN SO much!!! Otherwise why would you be here? HA! Just remember the hateful commens about Dirk (or ANY player–its a game jackass) getting hurt–really shows what a pimp you are—and worse, will come back on you 10-fold.. Happy Easter ya hippocrit….real Godly.

mavfan - scoreboard son. Look up at the rafters next time you are watching your lottery team play at home. You will notice there are no NBA Championship banners hanging up there. In Houston, we have 2 NBA Championship banners hanging from our rafters. Before you come back with your stupid Jordan was “retired” comment during those years, what was your loser teams record back then? Let me refresh you:

    1993-1994 (13-69)
    1994-1995 ((36-46)

Enough said idiot. So bend over and take another one from your boyfriend Cuban Cigar.

p.s. Retire while you still have one healthy leg Dork.

Pay it no mind, TMAC. This is just a typical remark indicative of a guy just trying to show off to his boyfriend. I’m used to it.

I really must take note to ask him for consultation opportunities when I decide to write a children’s book in the future.
