Today’s Notes: Vujacic, Dalembert, Delfino, Rodriguez, Speights
This is honestly one of the slowest days in the NBA I’ve ever come across, at least at this time of year. But, here is some small stuff.
- Lakers’ restricted free agent Sasha Vujacic has changed agents, according to the Riverside Press Enterprise. This has made the process of signing a new deal with LA slower.
- In the Philadelphia Daily News, 76er’s center Samuel Dalembert told his side of the story after being kicked off the Canadian national team, voicing his displeasure with the rumors coming out that he was not fully committed to the team. He says that after a bad game, he was told to leave the team bus and was engaged in a heated conversation with the coach. While he has to be upset at this, it’s not big deal for the Sixers. They’re probably happy that he isn’t playing in the Olympics.
- Former Raptors guard Carlos Delfino has signed a three-year contract with BC Khimki, a Euroleague team, according to eurocupbasketball.com. Delfino was a decent backup for Toronto, but I guess he wanted more playing time over in Europe.
- Sergio Rodriguez, a backup guard on the Blazers, has been working with Portland’s shooting coach, John Townsend in Spain, the Oregonian reports. Rodriguez shot 35.2% last season and didn’t make the Spanish national team, so it’s good for the Blazers that his shot is looking much better.
- NBA.com reports that the Sixers have signed their first-round pick, forward Marreese Speights. Speights has been phenomenal so far in Las Vegas, being one of just three players to average a double-double. He might take some time to develop, but he looks like a possible starter in the future.
