Troy Hudson’s Album Sold 78 Copies Nationwide
I guess I was one of 78 people in the US to buy Troy Hudson’s album in its first week. I was also one of 38 people in Minneapolis to buy it.
And relatively speaking, it sold extremely well in the Twin Cities. The album sold four copies in Indianapolis, one copy in Phoenix, and no copies in Huddy’s hometown of Carbondale, Illinois.
If Troy Hudson’s reading this…YOU OWE ME. C’mon…alone, I accounted for 1.3% of your CD sales. And some of those sales have to be credited to my review of the album.
I’m figuring that at least three people bought the CD because of my review. They’re selling for 12 bucks each…I think I should be getting at least 50% of that. T-Hud, you’re on notice. I’ll be expecting a check for 18 dollars by next week.
The big question: What should they do with all the unsold “Undrafted” albums? Hey, I’d be willing to take a few more…I’m running a little short on coasters.
His album sold so badly, I’m thinking it might even affect the buyout negotiations. He got absolutely HUMILIATED in the music industry. He sold 78 CDs! That’s a HUGE ego hit…but a big payday courtesy of Glen Taylor could ease the pain nicely.

You can make a collage with a few hangers and cds to put on a ceiling fan. It’s a poor man’s disco ball if you get it rockin’!

he had an album? that’s some bad promotion

You know he bought 25 of the copies in Minneapolis. Zero in Carbondale, doesn’t his mom or family still liver there. He probably sold so few because everyone was downloading it on Itunes.

Thoroughly enjoyable piece, Anthony. Sadly, I have yet to hear Master T-Hud’s stylings. Looks like I’ll be okay going without.

I wonder if his record deal is as soul-crushing for his record company as his basketball contract is for the Wolves.

ok.. dude.. if i made an album, i could sell more than 78 to just friends alone.. HAHHAHA this is one of the funniest stories ever…
July 28th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
That’s really funny Steve…Master T-Hud?!?
SBG- I believe he actually released this under his own label.
Mark- Hey, at the very least it was better than Artest’s album.

Of course you know… if u put his name together it spells the sound his hip-hop career just made - “THUD!”
And in case that didn’t help his stage name… HUD spelled backwards is “DUH!”
Troy, you have my sides hurtin from laughter!
Thanks for no championships but plenty to smile about.

Troy needs another chance to play. I remember when this guy was knocking in 20 + points a game. He’s not old, and is clearly more capable than he has appeared to be in the last couple seasons. He needs minutes and the right team. Where to go from here? Check me at www.clutch3.com

Hey I live in Australia was at the record store yesterday and they had a poster up on the wall in the corner, I didn’t know it was an NBA player. Did he use his own money to market the album?
Looks like he’s a bit of a tight-arse on that front!!! Did he take the picture himself, wow like Paris Hilton, all about self promotion… might be time to get over yourself!
Oh well least he doesn’t get paid to make music… Troy you should go on American Idol. Those guys seem to sell more records!

Mark - I’ve only heard 2 of Thud’s songs, but they suck. Badly.
Spin - are you freaking kidding me? When was that, in AAU ball? at the YMCA?? He’s terrible, and what’s worse, he doesn’t know he’s terrible. If I had a nickel for every time Thud brought the ball up the court and took a bad shot with 18+ seconds on the clock and nary an entry pass to be seen…well, I could buy every single one of his albums. Are we sure “Spin” isn’t actually just Thud’s alias?

H-Town - next time wait til you’re not high before posting so we can make sense of your ramblings.
Goodbye (and good riddance) Thud!!!
August 6th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
H-Town, you had A WEEK to buy the album to make the count. Don’t be a poser. You know you simply didn’t choose to buy the album, so don’t try to take the high road in the hopes that THUD would invite you to his posse.
August 9th, 2007 at 8:56 am
I bought the album and i think it’s very good. Not the typical basketball want to be a rapper. I think all these people are jealous. Why? Because they ain’t got shit won’t ever be shit and look like shit. Real talk holla! And for all the hatin carbondale people yall just mad cuz he aint supportin your ass so get a job and suck a fat dick!
August 9th, 2007 at 11:23 am
Babygirl - you must be cracked. I’ve watched Thud play ball for years as a Wolves fan, and I’ve heard his music - he’s terrible at both. Just because you want to (and probably do) for Thud what you’re telling the Carbondale people to do, that doesn’t mean everybody should give this jackass props. He’s bad. Period. They played a song off his previous album once at a Wolves game, and it was so bad the crowd didn’t even know what to think. They only people not stunned into silence by its crappiness booed the hell out of it. They never played a song of his again after that.

T- hud still got love in da Dale. Why ya’ll hatin. u people act like he’s tring to make a career out of it, he’s doing it for fun, and his cd didn’t come out here or it would’ve sold fo sho. His family do got talent on the music side and he’s not a bad ball player he just needs his time to shine fo real and the right team.I hope he do get pick up by the right team and get to play. He STILL GOT LOVE N DA DALE!!!!!!!!
September 18th, 2007 at 5:58 pm
Troy is definetly a hooper and he has been rappin since high school, although I havnt heard the CD I have heard some of his underground work and it was nice. Record sales have alot to do with promotion and he dropped around Kayne and 50 with all the hype they had so his timming wasnt the best. I know of CD’s that were heavily promoted that wasnt shit too. I cant speak for the CD but he can rapp. He use to have notebooks of rhymes written out just waiting for beats to put them too. Im pretty sure he has pissed some people off in the Dale cause you cant be there for everybody but overall he is a good dude, a good rapper and hell to guard on the basketball court, Str8 up!!
September 18th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
Well maybe his release wasnt as close to theirs as I originaly thought but it was barely promoted. I bet its better than the other NBA players though. Shad what up dogg!!
September 23rd, 2007 at 9:13 pm

Cheap ass wouldnt even buy his MAMMA(Cynt) a house!! You sold yo-boys out here in the Dale and too scared to come home now! Yeah they was trying to sell you punk ass shit here WE didn’t want it; not even on bootleg. Bought all those used cars for the family and kept the realestate for yourself and that bad weave wearing MO -Huh. Take you tired ass to CA. We doing fine w/o you. Not hating some of us do have lucrative JOBS!
September 26th, 2007 at 9:42 am
I just glad that his playing isn’t as bad as his rapping.

The extra copies of the CD’s should be sold to record stores in Uganda, just like the “Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Champs” T-shirts.
