The Inferno

Rudy!

Quick post - the news we’ve been waiting for has finally been confirmed, and it looks like, regardless of what KP pulls off on draft day, the Blazers will what seem to be 2 of the top 5 or so rookies for next season.

In addition to the rehabilitated and one-year wiser Greg Oden, the Blazers will also add 6′ 5″ Spanish shooting guard Rudy Fernandez.  Yeah, the best player who didn’t play in the NBA this season.

This season, Rudy led DKV Juventut to the Spanish Copa del Rey de Baloncesto tournament title and the ULEB Cup championship, winning MVP in both tournaments.  Rudy also led Juventut to the EuroCup title in 2006, winning MVP honers there as well.   This guy is 23 years old, has been playing high level international basketball since he was 16, and is highly decorated as a player in the Spanish ACB league - the best league outside of the NBA according to Kevin Pritchard.

Transitioning to the NBA isn’t an easy task for any player.  But the Blazers need another shooting guard to back up Roy and allow Nate to play three-guard lineups that don’t involve two guards 6′3′ or shorter, and I think we’re going to see plenty of this kind of matchup nightmare next season.

Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez.  Who cares when they were drafted, we’ve got two high-impact rookies coming.  And who knows what else KP has up his sleeve.  The future is coming, and it looks great.

You’re still gonna get swept by the Cavs in the season series this year. Esp after that clown at the Garden keeps egging him on like he did in January.

I wouldn’t be so sure Amar.

If the Cavs get a decent SG maybe, but with your current lineup, Portland would sweep the Cavaliers. Blazers have Oden and now Fernandez. They will be a very good team.

Danny Ferry probably wishes he could get Rudy Fernandez…

If our favorite teams were reversed Amar, that’s probably the same kind of thing I’d be bragging about. At this point, I get to just sit back and smile about what the next 10 years are going to bring. Some heartbreak, some excitement, some genuine franchise history, its going to be great.

How long until LeBron signs with Jay-Z and the Nets?

Your team is just good enough to be a legit contender in the east as long as they have a top-2 NBA player on the roster. When he bolts, you guys are screwed.

In other news: IT IS THE DAY BEFORE THE DRAFT! THE BLAZERS ARE MAKING DEALS AND WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! JUNE 6TH IS THE LAST POST? SERIOUSLY?!

Come on man get with it. The Blazers just bought the 27th pick and now have 5 picks in the draft which is TOMORROW and are rumored to be packaging the 13th and 33rd pick along with Jarrett Jack for the Nets 10th pick and Trenton Hassell. This is BIG news and there is sure to be much more news to come. HELLLLOOOOOO?!

Seriously, Houston (or Faris…or whoever) - this is the Blazers’ time of year, the time when Kevin Pritchard signs, and all you guys gotta say is talk trash with me about Jay-Z/LeBron rumors.

No mock draft? No thoughts on what buying the 27th pick means? Is there somebody in that late-20s range that interests them, or are they looking to make an attractive package for a veteran player?

I meant when Kevin Pritchard SHINES, not signs. Sorry.
