Turiaf coming north?
As if the signings couldn’t come fast enough.
Last night the Mullin made another big move, signing former Laker Ronny Turiaf to a 4-year $17 million offer sheet. The Lakers will have seven days to match but could have trouble doing it since they are over the cap.
Turiaf maintains the French presence on the team and is a nice hardworking defender. He can bang, play post defense and block a few shots. On offense he has a decent mid-range jumper that he relies on too much and struggles in finishing at the rim. He does bring a ton of energy to the floor, which would work well in Nellie’s crazy system.
The downside is that Turiaf does not really rebound as well as a 6’10” 250 lb. player should. If Hendrix comes in ready to play, the Turiaf signing could lose some value but Turiaf is still a relatively known product.
Another reason this move might have been made is that Turiaf is one of the big men who Phil Jackson trusts the most on the LA roster. Mullin may be trying to force the hand of Mitch Kupchak and mess up the Laker’s cap status.
Another rumor has surfaced that the Dubs could look at Stephon Marbury should he be fired by the Knicks. He is still talented and could help fill the hole at point which Baron left. Chauncey Billups could be an option as well is Detroit actually wants to blow up their current team (they probably don’t).

I think this is a great signing for Golden State. I would also suggest they try and acquire Steve Blake from Portland to run point. With the acquisition of Bayless they may part with Blake for a cheap price.
