Overmatched!

Man, that was ugly.

I’m writing this midway through the 3rd quarter, but I’ve seen enough.  It’s a good thing the Wizards don’t play in the Western Conference because they actually have a chance to go deep into the playoffs in the East, but they are no match for the West’s best.

All due respect to Wiz play by play man Steve Buckhantz, who I think does a great job, but the reason opposing teams seem to shoot the lights out early in games against Washington is the fact that the Wiz give up wide open shots time after time in the first half of games because it doesn’t seem like they want to waste any energy playing any lick of defense until the 4th quarter.  If you give NBA players wide open shots and close shots, they will hit them and burn you.

One other thing.  Jarvis Hayes is horrible.  He is so inconsistent and by that I mean, he’s horrible.  He can’t hit open shots and his defense is… hmm…. horrible!  I watched him for 4 straight possessions and he lost his man, left his man wide open twice, ran into a screen as his guy hit a wide open shot.  If he was like Juan Dixon a couple years ago and got hot and hit shots off the bench but still was bad on defense, then fine, but he can’t do that.   Horrible.
