Second Half Surge Beats Nets

You gotta give this Wizards team some credit.

After trying to keep up with the Suns on Friday night, they went back to playing 07-08 Wiz hoops on Sunday night and used a second half eruption to beat the Nets for the first time in 2 years.

This team has been depleted due to injuries, but has continued to step up and win games.  I am worried about the wear and tear on Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison, but for now, they are leading this team and they are now 10-5 since starting the season with five straight losses.  They have beaten good teams and beaten teams they are supposed to beat.  That’s what good teams do.

Every player on the roster that is healthy is getting playing time.  Though like I said, I would love to see Jamison and Butler not have to play 44+ minutes every night.  They may need to, but both of those guys are not iron men.  They have missed games in the past due to injury and we can’t afford to wear those guys out so early in the season.  Not that they have much of a choice, but here’s hoping they can build some big leads and let those guys rest.

4 of the next 5 games are at home and they are against not-s0-great opponents.  If they can go 4-1 in these next 5, they’ll be sitting pretty at 14-11 before heading on the road for 3 straight.  More good news.  There are no more back to backs until the end of the month.  That should help the exhaustion.

Anyway, it was a big win on Sunday night over New Jersey and this team is really learning how to win without Arenas. That should make them even better when he comes back.  Oh, and if you haven’t already, go check out Gil’s latest blog entry on NBA.com.  He is truly one of a kind.  He discusses players turning down lucrative contracts plus trash talking with Damon Jones.  It’s a must read!

Your are right, that was a great come from behind win. Hopefully we can continue to have more outings like that.
