Big 4th Beats 76ers
One night after a game to forget in Detroit, the Wizards came home, played without Caron Butler against one of the hottest teams in the NBA. If that’s not enough, this was a huge game in the battle to NOT have to play Boston or Detroit in the first round of the playoffs.
For most of the game, it was the usual Wiz game. Looked good, looked horrible. But in the 4th quarter, Gilbert Arenas finally emerged. He looked like the Arenas of old and willed the Wizards to victory. Philly went cold and the Wiz got hot. Gil had 12 points in the 4th, but his play led to a better offense and they never looked back.
This was a huge win that puts us 2 games in front of Philly with 2 to play. They also now have the tiebreak over the 76ers, which is huge. So it’ll be either the Cavs or Magic in the 1st round. One more win clinches another series with Cleveland.
Hopefully Butler comes back soon as I don’t think I can take any more horrible injuries! But on a must-win night, the Wiz won.
Nice job!

The Wizards in the fourth quarter showed what they are capable of at full strength (minus caron). However, i must say that once Gilbert started playing at a high level such as in this game…it rubs off on anyone else and his crisp passes led to easy lay ups. Without Gilbert, we would’ve still won maybe but we wouldn’t have been able to blow this game open such as they did tonite. Also, Songaila is one of the most valuable players on our team….He can catch those laser passes from Gil and he is very savvy around the basket with quick passes or high % shots of his own. Also, for all of you who complain about Gilbert taking quick threes early in the shot clock….it doesn’t hurt us as much as you all may think. He takes them early in the shot clock…so we wind up with extra possessions anyways…also…a quick three points here and there can absolutetly change the complexion of a game such as tonite…allowing us to build a huge lead in the 4th and run away with it. A great game…and good to have Gil back…get better tough juice…i’ll get u some straws from mickey d’s to chew on…in the mean time…get healthy soon…cus we’re playing some playoff hungry teams in the next few days to come.

Amen Rock. You said it all. I could not agree more.
Your comments about Songaila are dead on as well. The guy was a stiff the first half of the season, but he has improved big time. He still makes some dumb plays, but he is a great rebounder and has nice touch around the basket.
If they can get Butler back at close to full strength, look out in the playoffs. Unless the refs choose to decide it, I think the Wiz have the edge over the Cavs.

It’ll be the Wizards and Cavs Part 3.
Bring em on!

Wiz get robbed.
Anyone else see that horrible video review foul that gave Cleveland the win tonight over Philly? Awful. Just plain awful. This is the crap that I hate about the NBA. Whether or not is was a foul is not the question. The question is, why did they go to the monitor in the first place? Am I missing something? Since when can you review the video in order to call a foul? Damn.
