Speechless!

Oh, the NBA.

Where else can a team lose by 30 one night, then win by 36 just three night later?   Well, I will now take full credit for the amazing turnaround by the Wizards on Thursday night.  I called them out.  They embarrassed themselves big time on Monday night, but they redeemed themselves big time with a rout that nobody saw coming.

It was a wild crowd at Verizon Center.  A white out just days after a red out.  Whatever happens, it’s just nice to see that arena filled with crazy fans night after night no matter what the sport.

Now back to one hell of a performance by the Wizards.  Gilbert Arenas returned to the starting lineup, but unfortunately not for long.  Before everyone starts saying that they don’t need him, remember he set the tone for this one with some great passing and quick hands early on.  Arenas played only 10 minutes, but hopefully he’ll be back for Sunday’s Game 4.  This Wizards team won this game due to defense.  Their defense was the best I’ve seen in years.  They were all over the place.  Of course, hitting shots on the offensive end helped a lot, since they were finally able to get into defensive sets instead of chasing a Cavs team on the fast break.

Caron Butler and Deshawn Stevenson finally showed up.  With Soulja Boy in attendance, Stevenson looked reborn.  I could use a little less of the ‘hand in the face’ stuff, but these are our Wizards.  They showboat too much, but if you win by 36, you can get away with it.  Andray Blatche had a great game.  Maybe it was his Mike Green-like mohawk that got him going.  Who knows with this team!

All I know is that while it was a great game to watch for us Wizards fans, it means very little if they don’t come out and give a similar effort on Sunday afternoon.  They will have the national TV audience again and it will be another opportunity to prove the doubters wrong and tie this thing up at two games apiece.

You did it once.  Now let’s see you do it again.

Oh, and my favorite part of the night.  The ‘overrated’ chant to Lebron at the free throw line.   While we all know he is NOT overrated, it was funny to see him laugh, then miss the free throw!

Oh man, I love it. I was in shock watching the game but only because of how they lost in game 2. I knew they’d have energy playing at home but they just dominated.

The defense was superb. I’ve been saying for a long time that I believe you have to make LeBron a jump shooter. I’d take him shooting 25 footers all night as opposed to getting in the lane. He gets in the lane and finishes or drops off 10 assists. Force him to shoot jumpers and his effectiveness drops way down. The Wiz did a good job not forcing the issue but running him into double teams out high.

Defence might of been good, but I did feel that I was watching a hood game. The hands in the face after a basket. I didn’t see the Cav’s doing this.

I do think the Wiz need to tone it down a bit with all the showboating. However, every NBA team has players who talk a lot of trash. It’s very rampant. I guess some may do it more subtly.

It was a big win, Lebron didn’t do much, and the Cavs proved how bad they really can be.

Hey Arthur, are you saying the Cavs don’t do the hands in the face stuff? Did you watch Game 2? Damon Jones and Lebron did it all game long whenever they hit a shot over Stevenson. Now, I don’t blame them for doing it, but don’t sit there and say how classy the Cavs are. This is basketball. This is what they do. Talk trash and showboat. Now that being said, I think the Wiz still do it too much.
