Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana on Yahoo! Sports

I was just browsing through Yahoo! Sports’ NFL section and I noticed that they featured a couple interviews of Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana.

Lott was asked on this thoughts of the NFC West and the Niners’ chances of winning. No longer a surprise team, Lott felt that the Niners were more than capable of winning the division and making big things happen in the playoffs. The NFC West, according to Lott, will be one of the more intriguing divisions of all of football, where all the teams can make a great splash towards the end of the season.

Montana in his interview talked about Oakland’s JaMarcus Russell and Cleveland’s Brady Quinn. He felt that both of these rookie quarterbacks will have a lot to learn and adjust to in the NFL, but is confident that their talent can help elevate them. On the topic of Alex Smith, Montana felt that Smith has learned a lot from going under center all last season. With the running game taking some pressure off of him, the Niners still need a great big playmaker like a Terrell Owens (the talent, not the antics part).

Both these interviews were short, but they did show that even after retirement, both these Hall of Famers still like to keep in touch with the NFL and their former team. The videos are still available on the site.
