Mining the Gold Rush
My condolences to Sean Taylor’s family, friends, fans
Redskins’ safety Sean Taylor was shot in the leg last night during an attempted burglary at his home. The bullet struck between his leg and groin, an area that carries a lot of blood. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, but didn’t make it.
I was extremely shocked last night to hear the news. It hurts me to just think of another young life taken away. I offer my prayers to the family and friends of this man.
Teammates have said that Taylor was a caring man, with a newfound love for life after becoming a father. In the NFL world, where athletes are screwing up, it’s just sad to see athletes in the news because they were victims.
On New Year’s, Broncos defensive back Darrent Williams was shot by a passing gunman in front of teammate Champ Bailey.
A little over a month later, teammate running back Damien Nash collapsed and died during a charity basketball game.
In March, Patriots defensive end Marquise Hill drowns in a jet ski accident.
Young men, all at the age of 24 like Taylor, suffer deaths that were unexpected an so tragic. It’s a painful thing to imagine, how a death like Taylor’s comes during a time where NFL players are victims to untimely deaths.
Taylor had his troubles in the past but was on the road in becoming a mature man. He was on his way to becoming an NFL star. He was on his way to becoming a great father. All taken away so soon…
Rest In Peace Sean. I remember watching you play from time to time and you had a passion to deliver the biggest impact when on the field. Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
