Bengals Sign Sherry and Urrutia
After watching the team wait until the last minute to start signing its draft picks, it was a bit of a surprise to wake up today to see the Bengals had signed two more draft picks with camp still 2 weeks away. Tight End Jason Sherry and WR Mario Urrutia ended the suspense by agreeing to terms. It is a good sign to see the picks signing a little earlier although the team is still lagging behind a bit as several third and fourth rounders have been signed around the league. Is it a big deal, not really but it is not really a surprise is it. The Bengals are among the biggest slotters in the league and thus they need other players to sign first. Word of contract talks beginning with 1st rounder Keith Rivers are a positive sign as well. Along with DT Pat Sims, Rivers’ signing is a key to a defense changing numerous faces in light of the free agent departures of Justin Smith, Landon Johnson and Madieu Williams.
