Levy makes another offer to Walker
The Darwin Walker saga continued today after weeks of no new reports of negotiations between the Buffalo Bills and the former Philadelphia defensive tackle. GM Marv Levy came on The Howard Simon Show on WGR550 and announced that the team made a new proposal to Walker.
“(Jim Overdorf) has made a proposal,” Levy said. “We’re waiting to hear back from the agent. We’d like to have Darwin in. If he doesn’t, he will revert to the Eagles, who I think are just going to put him on ‘did not report’ also, and we will get a draft choice.”
If Walker dosen’t report by Aug. 5, he goes back to the Eagles for a sixth-round draft pick. However it is not so clear that Philadelphia wants him either.
Walker still has two years left on his deal, but he has been determined to get a new deal worked out.
ESPN previously reported that the Bills offered a one-year deal worth $1.3 million, which is what he is scheduled to earn, but allowing him to become a free agent at the year’s end.
Somehow I doubt Levy upped the value by much, this is likely a final offer to see if Walker really is comfortable sitting out.
