Would Boldin benefit the Bills?
Alright, so my Chad Johnson to Buffalo scheme got some holes put through it this week after Cincinnati turned down a sizable offer from Washington. The Bengals would’ve received the Redskins first-round pick in this year’s draft and a conditional pick in next year’s that could’ve been another first rounder.
That’s far too steep a price for the Bills to pay and on top of that, Marvin Lewis says Chad isn’t going anywhere.
So what about disgruntled Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin? The five-year veteran is angry after fellow wideout Larry Fitzgerald received a hefty extension from management. Boldin still has three years left on his deal and he isn’t one of the top-paid receivers in the league like his statistics would dictate.
Despite missing four games in 2007, Boldin caught 71 passes for 853 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2006, Boldin caught 83 for 1,203 yards and four touchdowns and in 2005, the wideout caught 102 balls for 1,402 yards and seven touchdowns.
At 6-1, he isn’t a giant, but would be an upgrade to the undersized Buffalo receiving corps. Boldin is a great possession receiver, something the team has lacked since Eric Moulds left. At 27-years-old, the two-time Pro Bowler isn’t too old for the Bills either.
I think he’d be the perfect compliment to Lee Evans and I’d take him over Chad Johnson if I had a choice. No drama, younger, similar production…why not?

I think the world of Boldin and would love to have him in Buffalo, however, his issue with the Cards is that he is underpaid so he would need more money. Lee Evans will be in need of a hefty pay raise after this season, if not before, in the range of Fitzgerald’s deal. Where does that leave Boldin? However, it is possible that Boldin could end up being the number 1 here and he’d get the big money and Evans would be sent walking or have to settle for #2 money. Alos, a little competition between those two guys would be dramatic this season, then we keep the better of the two. Either way, I say we take him for our first round pick…he’s worth it and more proven than any WR in the draft. He’s not a gamble.

I agree w/ Eric, Another point to add is the Cards have turned down trade offers for him so I don’t think they would deal him.
In my opinion Lee Evans should be let go or traded if he is demanding Larry Fitz $. I would not want to tie that kind of loot up on Lee, I like him and want him to stay and all but not at that price tag….

Lee Evans clearly isn’t worth Larry Fitzgerald money. I think he could be a legit No. 1 if we had a legit No. 2 to take away double teams. Boldin would be that guy and I think Evans would be all for it.

Anyone over 6′0 tall, that can run from A to B would benefit the Bills right now. Boldin is one of the better WRs in the league, so I don’t think there should be much debate there. The debate is that the Cards either will or won’t give him up. Right now I’m hearing that they want WAY too much compensation for Boldin, and with the Jared Allen trade having just went down they’re probably are not too unjustified in what they ask for. Do you guys want to give up not only our 1st round pick, but an additional 3rd, and possibly a 2nd or 3rd for next year as well just for a solid over 6′0 tall WR. Because I DON’T, especially since the Bills aren’t exactly strapped for cash. We are still 20mil under the cap! Come on guys, lets ALL just try to be happy that we’re probably going to land Devin Thomas, or Limas Sweed!

LISTEN GUYS! Lee is NOT going to ask for Fitz$$, why? because he doesn’t have Fitzgerald’s STATS. You can’t ask for the same dollar amount unless you’ve performed as well or better than the player’s contract you are debating should be the cornerstone to your upcoming contract. Al Davis is OLD, and going RETARDED, and EVERYONE in the league knows it, but haven’t directly said it like that in so many words. Though what they have said is “Don’t take what Al Davis and the Raiders have done into context, because no one in the league believes they’re was any business sense to make of it.” He grossly overpaid DT Tommy Kelly, and WR Javon Walker, and everyone in the league knows it, so STOP trying to compare those #s to what you might have to sign a player for in the future-Because no one in the ENTIRE league is paying attention to it. Pretty much indicating that everyone feels that Al Davis has plain and simply LOST IT. NOW, go ahead and look at Larry Fitzgerald’s production, You done yet, They are impressive STATS aren’t they- THAT’S WHY HE IS GETTING PAID SO MUCH. He received a large, hefty Rookie contract, then backed it up with terrific consistent play, and technically deserved more money. LEE isn’t an ASSHOLE, he knows this, and NO ONE in the ENTIRE league would sign him for Fitz$$- because it wouldn’t make any kind of business sense!

Guys.
Let’s face it. Fitz would be a great asset for the Bills.
He could take the double coverage off Evans. And the passsing game would be a treath to any one now with Edwards at QB, great awarness, good poise in the pocket and delivering balls to that pair……..great.
The problem is that I just saw in NFL Network that Fitz is staying put at Arizona, he’s not going anywhere.

Fernando, Fitz isn’t going to escape the Desert anytime soon. Boldin is more of the focus.
I agree that Evans shouldn’t get that kind of money, but he won’t be too far behind. Javon Walker. I agree with your finding a 6-footer to run from A to B. Hopelly around 4:15 tomorrow we’ll have one Carlos.
Be sure to check in with the site around and after the Bills picks. I”ll post my thoughts and I always enjoy your thoughts as well.
