Browns Bites

Browns “D” Steps Up Big

The Browns are 7-4 and we finally got a little defense involved in the win.  I just have two questions.

Who is Brandon McDonald?
Where did he come from?

This secondary improved that much with Eric Wright out, and McDonald has been on this team all year.  It’s funny how things work, and I know it’s only one game but Houston has a pretty good passing offense and the Browns defended them solidly. I don’t know if it was McDonald but he made a big impression today with the fans and more importantly with his teammates.

I’ve wondered all year if this defense was bad because they were young in the secondary and with a few games under their belt they might improve.  With this game and the first half against the Ratbirds, that seems to be the case.

I totally expected a shootout much like the past three weeks but instead we had a good defensive football game, except for the end when the Browns relaxed a little bit.

The most important thing about this game was that Jamal Lewis seems to be back on track with back-to-back solid games.  Sunday he ran with an aggressiveness that we really haven’t seen all year racking up 134 yards on 29 rushes.

I love watching the Browns this year, they have a confidence about them and you could see it throughout the game.  Their confidence never seemed to waiver after a slow start by the offense.

Next up is Arizona which will be tough match up on the road, but who knows, if we can get this defense to play like they did on Sunday the Browns will be tough to beat.

With this win, the Browns have won five out of six games and with that, I think we can start talking playoffs.  The offense is playing great, the defense is growing every week, and the team’s confidence has to be at an all time high.

Romeo says no playoff talk. Oh well, I’m going to say it anyway; we are going to the playoffs baby.  Now I just have to get it to sink in.
