Browns Bites

Browns Ice the Bills

Hey, it wasn’t a fun game to watch with the blizzard and all but the Browns made it a lot easier by beating the Buffalo Bills, inching closer to their first playoff birth in five years.

All week I questioned whether or not the Browns would win because they’ve been kind of on-and-off.  One week they look great and the next they look like the team from week one.

In my opinion last week was a pretty good game on both sides of the ball and the Browns are starting to get those kinks out of their system, especially on defense, and they proved it by beating the Bills on Sunday.

I thought it was a huge game for the Browns to win and it proved two things; the Browns will make the playoffs and Jamal Lewis will be the one to show them the way. I can’t say enough about what he has brought to this team.  Not only the tremendous running attack that he has perfected over the last few weeks, but he brought a toughness along with him that he has passed along to the rest of the team.

The confidence the Browns are playing with right now is amazing, something I haven’t seen in a long time.  Sunday against the Bills they didn’t shy away from their passing game especially in the first half, Braylon Edwards and Joe Jurevicious made incredible catches for big gains and Derek Anderson threw the ball pretty well given the weather conditions.

The win is bigger because the playoffs were on the line and the Browns persevered against a pretty tough Buffalo team. But that’s not all, they also put themselves into a first place tie with the Steelers for the Division.  The Steelers still lead because they swept the season series, but nonetheless it’s a great accomplishment.

I am finally buying into this team, last week I questioned whether they would show up to play this game and be upstaged by the Bills.  But, snow or not, it was the same conditions for both sides and the Browns showed they were the better team.

I think the playoffs are in the Browns’ near future, and I want the Steelers.  I want the Browns to play themselves into a wildcard game with the Steelers, and I want them to finally put an end to their losing ways.  Because we all know, despite this great season we are experiencing, they haven’t proven they can win until they prove they can beat the Steelers.

7-2 since the loss at New England….and those losses were to Pittsburgh and Arizona….

the Pitt game could have been won easily…

and the Ariz game could have been won easily….(some say the Browns DID win…)

But 7-2 though over the last 9 and should be 9-0???

Forget the wild card….hope the Rams beat Pittsburgh and the Browns win out.

Jamal Lewis is a fucking steamroller…just running fools over for the last five weeks. You can make a career’s worth of highlight reels based on his first season here with the Browns (then again, you can also make a career’s worth of highlight reels of him AGAINST the Browns when he was with the Ravens…yikes).

How about that one touchdown reception against the Cardinals where he catches a ball in the flat at the five-yard line, then freaking clears over Rod Hood in one leap before bouncing off another guy in the end zone for the touchdown?

How about that Bengals game, where he ripped off huge runs after huge runs en route to 215 yards on the day? And btw Cincinnati, you get the honor of trying to tackle Jamauler next week…good luck, guys. He’s owned you since he was a Raven, and he owned you so far as a Brown.

How about that run against the Jets where he just ambushed through the NY defense for a 30+ yard touchdown gallop?

How about the highlights of him running over Houston Texan defenders on his way to 134 yards?

How about those 4 touchdown runs against Seattle?

THIS GUY DESERVES A THREE-YEAR EXTENSION. PHIL SAVAGE HAS DONE EVERYTHING WELL SO FAR, INCLUDING BRINGING MAULER IN HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE BETTER NOT LET HIM GO OR ELSE WE ARE IN BIG BIG TROUBLE.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that one run against the Ravens at Baltimore a few weeks ago where he bust up the middle, ran some bums over, and then leaped over somebody for a huge 20+ yard run.

    Amar….

I agree with you about Lewis. In my opinion though, I continue to be blown away by Jason Wright too…..he has such a great ability to weave his way through traffic with the ball. He always seems to get positive yards and fall forward after contact, and he is a great receiver out of the backfield.

I also think we are sitting on a “Derek Anderson” with our third string RB in Harrison. He finally “gets it” this year, and he is always an ankle tackle away from taking it to the house every time he touches the ball……

He is a great receiver too……we are blessed in Cleveland with Lewis, Wright and Harrison - especially with their receiving skills……did anyone see Brandon Jacobs on Sunday night with the Giants??? Jeesh……talk about stone hands….

So where I agree with you about Lewis and an extension……I also think I’d like to see more of Wright and Harrison as well.
