Browns, and Other Bites…
We are actually tied with Pittspuke with only two weeks to go in the season! Seriously, if someone said this was going to happen after the abortion of a loss to these guys in the opening week, we’d be visiting that guy as he undergoes rehab treatment in Glenbeigh right now. Yet it is a reality that both teams are 9-5 and tied for the division lead.
Right now the Stillerz have the tie-breaker due to the season sweep of the Browns. Their remaining opponents are both on the road against the Rams (3-11) and the Ravens (4-10). The Browns finish up with a road game in Cincinnati (4-9) and a home game versus San Francisco (4-10).
Is winning the division title still important with the team on the verge of clinching a wild card birth? Consider this, if the Browns win the division they will most likely host the Jacksonville Jaguars. If they enter the playoffs as the Wild Card winner, they will travel to San Diego and play the Chargers. Where would you rather be?
Thoughts from Sunday:
Talk about shrinkage. That was probably one of the coldest games since the re-birth of the franchise. The snow constantly came into the fans faces from a sideways angle and it never really stopped. Despite the rough weather, the fans were awesome as they still managed to generate a lot of noise and drink a lot of beer. Yes, that last part is no understatement. The Legends club near the Dawg Pound ran out of beer in the 2nd quarter. I was not happy.
Being in the upper deck above the Pound was a utterly brutal. The wind blows a lot harder upstairs. Every fan stood up throughout the game in a last ditch effort to stay warm. Every beer in the house had a layer of snow so thick on top we might as well have been drinking Miller Lite flavored Slurpees. However, what makes stuff like this great is that these are the games that you will never forget attending…especially when it’s a win this big.
Fantasy blues:
For those of you, like myself, who had been relying on the likes of Derek Anderson, Braylon Edwards or Kellen Winslow to help you in your fantasy league playoffs over the weekend I give my sincere condolences. Hey, I had all three in a league and got upset in the opening round as the number one seed. I feel your pain. In fact, there was a lot of fantasy bloodshed over the weekend outside of Cleveland as well thanks to the poor weather throughout both the Great Lakes and the Northeast and parts abroad.
Don’t forget about that offensive letdown in New England for Brady & Moss and even from a fantasy perspective as well. This was probably the most schizophrenic team fantasy line of the weekend. The top QB and WR in all of football go silent and running back Laurence Maroney finally shows up for the fantasy season with over 100 yards and a touchdown. Nice of my first round pick in my family league to finally show up. Dick.
Oh, and let’s not forget Tony Romo taking a complete nose dive with his new fling Jessica Simpson in attendance. Is it me, or is the fact that Romo had his worst game of the year with Simpson there to bring the bad luck similar to the movie The Natural when Roy Hobbs’ game went straight to the tank the moment he started dating his manager Pop Fischer’s niece Memo Paris, played by Kim Basinger? All I’m saying is if Romo is fed an appetizer by Simpson and collapses at a Cowboys party and is put in the maternity ward at a hospital on the eve of the playoffs…remember this conversation. Run Tony. Run damn you!

If’s, If’s, If’s.
I, unfortunately, live in pittsburgh and was at the browns-steelers game here. to think IF we had been able to hold onto a 15 point second half lead we would have been up 2 right now and the steelers wouldn’t have the tiebreaker.
But the steelers fans say the same thing about losing to the jets and browncos and cardinals.
I guess you just have to play them all and see what happens at the end.
go browns

I agree Dennis, Steelers fans are a bunch of whiners. Woulda, coulda, shoulda…
They forget we are a McKinney special teams block from beating the Raiders as well as a pushout non-call vs. Arizona from being 11-3 ourselves. Pussies.
