Only One Cardinal Makes Pro Bowl Roster
The only Arizona Cardinal to make this years Pro Bowl was WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz was a lock for his second Pro Bowl in 4 NFL seasons but Darnell Dockett was suppose to be a lock also. Dockett has 8 sacks which leads all NFL interior linemen, 54 tackles(41 solo) and 2 forced fumbles. By the way, Dockett was being doubled teamed the whole second half of the season. Here’s the stats of the 3 players that made the Pro Bowl ahead of Darnell…
Pat Williams- 2 sacks, 58 tackles(39 solo) and no forced fumbles
Kevin Williams- 3 sacks, 32 tackles(27 solo) and one forced fumble
Tommie Harris- 7 sacks, 35 tackles(32 solo) and one forced fumble
Clearly Dockett should be ahead of all 3 of these players. Instead Darnell is first alternate along with Edgerrin James who missed out as well. With Edge I feel first alternate is about right. James didn’t have a Pro Bowl year but was close. Karlos Dansby did not make the Pro Bowl but I think he would have had he not been injured for a few games this year. Dansby definitely played at a Pro Bowl level this year and hopefully will get his chance to be on next season.

Eli,
thanks for the numbers breakdown on the williams bro’s and Harris. What a snub. Not the only one out there though (Fred taylor, Joe Thomas etc.) Dock should have been a lock, but like whiz said, a lot of times it takes a monster season to get noticed, and then if you follow it up its the next season you get voted (like A. Dub, but in his case it was 2 monster seasons before getting the nod.) We as cards fans have entered a familiar part of the season, DRAFT WATCH! I cant lie, i love it. Dont know exactly where i wanna see them go, Kenny Phillips maybe to replace Holt, but i kinda like the idea of getting a corner (please asante samuel) and moving rolle to safety. I just dont know, but one thing i do know, im gunna be obsessing over it for the next 5 months. Happy holidays guys.

Thanks Mike,
I agree, Eli did a great job on this break down, I was surprised at just how much better statistically Dockett was compared to the guys in front of him. Len Pascarelli also mentioned Dockett in his column, further pointing out the Docketts switch to 3-4 probably cost him votes because he is sort of a DE at times and a DT others. Either way he got totally shafted in the voting as I would take him over any of the three guys in front of him.
Also, i’m with you on draft talk. No matter how the year ends we do love looking for the draft to cure our ills don’t we?
Thanks for your feed back and keep reading.
