Calvin Pace now a Dolphin
According to SI.com the Miami Dolphins have signed now former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Calvin Pace. Bucky Brooks of SI.com says, “The financial terms haven’t been disclosed but is believed to include to include over $20 million in guaranteed money.”
I’ll start by saying Calvin Pace is good but not $20 million dollars in guarantee good. $20 million in guaranteed money is a bit much. The issue I’m having is if Arizona could have worked a deal with Larry Fitzgerald and Karlos Dansby early on, the Cards would have had money to sign Calvin at a cheaper price before he got to free agency. I’m not going to panic yet, Cardinal fans have been in worst situations. Let’s just wait and see how this all works itself out. But yes, for the moment I am disappointed.

That, if it does go through as rumored, is just stupid money for Calvin Pace.
I like Pace and absolutely wanted him back as a Cardinals after his season last year, but as these dollars the Card’s have zero shot at matching.
Just another reason why their failure to lock him up BEFORE he hit free agency is going to cost them a solid player, must as with Leonard Davis last year. Sure Big got stupid money from Dallas, but the Cardinals should have realized he was a guard from the begining and signed him accordingly while they had the chance.
The lack of a coherent plan and salary structure just continues to cripple this teams growth.

Well I blame that on Bucky Brooks from SI.com. He said the deal was done. I’m sure he’s right and the deal is pretty much done but not at the moment he said it was.
Leonard Davis is one that makes me mad also because he did play out of position all those years and it was very obvious. I said it a thousand times, Davis was a Pro Bowler when he played at guard, and very average at tackle. Seems pretty obvious where the guy should be on the line.
But anyways, I’d expect the Calvin Pace thing to be official by today.
