ESPN Praises Cardinals Receivers

So I was reading ESPN Insider today and noticed that Scouts Inc. writer Keith Kidd ranked the Arizona Cardinals wide receivers 2nd in the NFL(Click for link). To a lot of intelligent football fans this ranking might be common sense, but the theme with most writers has always been to underrate the Cardinals receivers. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen rankings where the WR’s for Arizona are outside the top 5, or articles just not giving Anquan Boldin or Larry Fitzgerald the credit they deserve. An Example of that would be the recent article written on cbssportsline.com rating the top 50 players in the NFL. Now I know every teams fans are going to complain about a player or two left off the list, but to leave Anquan Boldin off the top 50 list is just amazing to me. At least Fitzgerald was on there being ranked 31st, but to leave Anquan off and put 9 receivers ahead of him blows my mind.

I’m starting to realize a lot of these list where players are ranked have to do with money. Maybe I was just being naive before thinking that money didn’t matter when ranking a players skills, but look at it this way… Fitzgerald, like Boldin has been very underrated due to the fact that he plays for the Arizona Cardinals. But as soon as Fitz got his $10 million a year contract he started being talked about as a top 5 wide receiver. I think Larry would still be very underrated had he not signed a big deal in this off season.  Maybe Anquan just needs his money so he can be considered a top 5 WR. If that’s the case then that’s too bad, because money or no money Boldin is a top 5 receiver for sure.

Both Fitz and Boldin have proved over and over again why they are the best receiving duo in the league. Maybe this will be the year the Cardinals make the playoffs and the two receivers get the credit they deserve.
