Eight Questions, Four Each, Between Chiefs, Titans MVN Writers
Recently, Andrew Strickert, Titans MVN writer, exchanged e-mails with Jon and me regarding the upcoming matchup between the Chiefs and Titans. He asked us the following four questions:
- The Chiefs have a lot of injuries. Which injured players will be keys for the Chiefs to beat the Titans? How will the loss of those unable to play impact the Chiefs?
- The Chiefs have had problems on the offensive line. What will they do to neutralize Albert Haynesworth, Kyle Vanden Bosch and the Titans’ front four?
- What favorable matchups do you see for the Chiefs?
- If you were Herm Edwards, what would your gameplan be against Tennessee? What must the Chiefs do to win?
You can see our answers here.
In return, I asked Andrew four questions of my own. I asked:
- What can the Titans do to snap Vince Young out of his funk? Do they tweak with their passing attack in this game, or do they rely on the running game to minimize the possibility of Young making mistakes, especially with the potential for bad weather in this game?
- Do the Titans focus on stopping the run early, given the Chiefs’ rushing problems and Kolby Smith’s injury, or do they back off and simply make sure that they don’t get burned by the big play?
- What is the Titans’ best chance for containing Tony Gonzalez? Do they double cover him, or rely on the physical linemen and linebackers to frustrate Gonzalez at the line?
- Arrowhead Stadium is not the daunting road venue it usually is, but the Titans are only 3-3 on the road. Are you confident in the Titans’ ability to take this road game and in Vince Young’s ability to ensure that any possible leads will hold up?
You can see Andrew’s answers here.
Thanks to Andrew and Total Titans for the questions and responses. On a personal note, I have always been a fan of Jeff Fisher, so I wish the Titans much luck in their loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
