With Win over Oakland: Colts Clinch AFC South

Colts fans: it’s time to take off your jerseys, you can now wash them after wearing them for the first 14 weeks of the season. Put down your blue #1 foam fingers and for everyone’s sake lay off the blue body paint. No one wants to see it.

I say this because you have four straight weeks off duty. That’s right, for the next four weeks, we are all off-duty Colts fans. This doesn’t mean we stop caring and defending our team, it just means that our team has earned the right to glide into the playoffs, so we, as fans have earned that right too.

So, this being said, rest your voices, heal all tailgating induced injuries, and perfect your “DE-FENSE” cheer, because along with this first-round bye, comes home field advantage- and since we’ve stopped piping in noise, our teams is gonna need all the help they can get.

How did we get this privilege? With a win over Oakland, of course! And it didn’t come easy either. The Raiders put up a fight and held Manning to only one touchdown throw- which is one more than Brady had against the Jets, mind you. Manning threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Gonzalez with 4:49 remaining.

This win allowed the Colts to take another place in the record books, becoming the only team to ever have five straight 12-win seasons.

So, as I said before, the Colts can take it easy and so can the fans. We’ve earned it!

Congrats!

Taking it easy is the worst thing you can do. Bill Belichick, the uber-golem of the NFL, won’t be allowing his 15-0 team to take it easy next week. And that’s the right attitude to have.

I agree with what you have to say, but I also believe that “taking it easy” has its advantages. Sure, Belichick won’t allow his team to take it easy, they have a point to prove, they want to go 16-0. Seeing as that is not possible for the Colts, why try and push themselves through this next game?

I doubt Belichick cares about his team going 16-0 in the regular season - I suspect all he cares about is getting his side to a fixture in Arizona. And the best way to go about that is to have no let up. He’ll also probably be furious at the way his offence has fannyed around in recent fixtures. He’ll want a good performance to take them into the play-offs, knowing that a deed is not glorious until it is complete.

Not much info on the Colts since the 17th.

Well, taking it easy in your final game of the regular season doesn’t seem like such a good idea now, does it?
