Bonus MYNC: Jamey Richard from a Buffalo perspective
I was recently contacted by Brian Chylinski of the University of Buffalo’s fan website. He wrote through email that he and many other Buffalo Bulls fans are extremely pumped that “Big Jamey” Richard will be wearing a Colts jersey. Here’s his email:
Before you write about the 7th round pick c/g from Univ of Buffalo-Jamey Richard,I wanted to invite you over to www.ubfan.com. It’s a not for profit Buffalo Bulls site (and the ONLY UB sports website).
We have a bunch of posts concerning Big Jamey. I think you are getting a player with some great days ahead of
him. He stayed strong and positive during some vicious beatings at UB and will surprise people. (Similar to
Ramon Guzman last year)
There was only one problem with Brian’s email! I received it after I had already posted my thoughts on “Big Jamey.” So, due to his urging, I checked out the website, searched the fan forums, and decided to post the thoughts of some Buffalo fans about their Bull-turned-Colt offensive lineman.
On the combine:
48 lineman are listed for OL. Jamey finished 8th in the vertical jump and 12th in the 3-cone drill. They participate in six drills today. Keep up the good work Jamey.

He also got a 5.22 40 yard dash, which is pretty good for a center (for comparison, Long got a 5.17). Also, he had an 8′8″ broad jump which seemed to be above average. I think if anything, he’s helped his stock in the combine.

On Richard’s selection as an All-American Honorable Mention by Pro Football Weekly:
The honors keep coming for him, hopefully at the end of april he will receive the biggest honor of all, being drafted!

Always awesome to see a UB guy getting honors like that. Congrats to Richard and to UB for getting good pub.

On Richard’s performance in the Hula Bowl:
Hula Bowl is on right on on Versus, just started about 20 minutes ago, and Richard is starting for the East squad! They have him playing guard, he’s wearing number 50 I believe.

I Tivo’d the game and watched a bit..only when the East was on offense. They killed the West 38-7. Richards played every other series and he alternated between LG and C. I’m no expert but he definitely held his own, especially in pass blocking. He did not look out of place at all but looked more natural at Center.

Thanks to the folks at ubfans.com for helping us gain a little insight into one of the Colts’ newest players.
