Ocho Cinco coming home?
Not even a day into his tenure as the Phins’ head honcho, Bill Parcells made it quite clear: He doesn’t want any Terrell Owenses or Keyshawn Johnsons within a mile of his new team. But what about Chad Johnson, Ocho Cinco himself, who is on the outs in Cincinnati? Sure, he’s got the tricked out grill, yellow mohawk and has squandered enough money in fines to feed a small country but if the Bengals are as fed up with Johnson as SI.com’s Peter King thinks, Parcells can’t afford ignore him.
“Chad Johnson, by the way, sounds like a man who wants out. Wouldn’t be surprised — nor would several of my NBC peers — if Bill Parcells, who is not afraid of bigmouths, deals his first pick in the third round to Cincinnati for Johnson.”
King and his friends at NBC are probably a little too far out in dream land especially with teams like the Raiders, who have a track record of taking anyone’s problems off their hands for a pretty penny, in the market for a wide receiver. But with two second round picks at his disposal, it wouldn’t be tough for Parcells to post the top bid.
Parcells got an up close and personal look at what Johnson can do during week 17 when he torched the Dolphins to the tone of 131 yards and two touchdowns. Teamed up with Ted Ginn Jr, Johnson would make an immediate impact on Miami’s bottom of the barrel passing game. Arguably the league’s best deep threat, Johnson is a mix of speed, hands, size and the ability to elude any shutdown corner. Looking at the Dolphins’ 2008 opponents, he could easily contend for the NFL’s receiving title while playing in his own backyard.
When asked about his feelings regarding a potential trade with the Dolphins, Johnson was ecstatic.
“Hey, that would be cool,” he said. “Where’s (Bill) Parcells at? I need to win now. I’ve done a lot of things, I’ve broken a lot of records here, I got the yards, I’ve been to the Pro Bowl, and I’m kind of fed up with the same thing every year.”
Pssst. Don’t tell him we’re coming off a 1-15 season.
Last offseason, Bill Belichick gave up a fourth round pick for Randy Moss. Last time I checked, that was working out pretty well for him. The “sweeping changes” have to start somewhere. Why not start by making the big splash?

This is one of those like it or hate it ideas, but I’m stuck in the middle.
There is no question that 85 is a talented wideout, more than an adequate replacement for Chambers. It sounds clear that he needs a change of scenery and the Bengals are willing to move on. However, there’s a REASON the Bengals are willing to let him go. His antics are well-known, his personality flashy, in his mind the game is all about him.
I would in no way involve the #1 pick in this move, but if King is right and Cinci will part with Johnson for our 3rd, MAYBE one of our two 2nds, it’s a great move. He’s a proven producer, and obviously loves the idea of playing under Parcells. Parcells has that iron personality that I think could keep Ocho-Cinco in check.
My verdict? Bring CJ back to a place where the temperature is often Ocho-Cinco.

Miami trading away draft picks for anyone short of Brady, Romo, Peyton, McNabb, Cutler, Rothlisberger, or Palmer would be a mistake. Johnson is a man among boys often; however, would he have that much more success than Chambers? Probably not. I’m not saying Chambers is the same level of player but he’s not that far off.
Miami’s offense will only improve when the QB play improves. Tom Brady won 2 Super Bowls with you, me and that other guy at WR. It was Brady’s ability to make them better that took them to the next level. Now that they have added talented WRs aroung him he’s exploded statistically.
Trading a 3rd round or a 3rd and a 2nd for Johnson would be a mistake. If they could trade a later orund pick for him then it may be worth it.

Thank God for Bill being in town, CJ would be a great aquisition however who would throw him the all Lemon is a Lemon, the veteran most likely wont be there for long since he cant stay awake for an entire season and the rookie is a possible but he cant seem to hold onto the ball.
This isnt an in-between or on-the-fence call it is the right call but only half the solution.

Bill Parcells and his crew are goin to be great for us. WIth that being said we absolutely should trade a 3rd rounder for CJ. I’m even willing to part with one of the 2nd rounders for him. He’s a proven player at the next level will only take pressure off of what i thought was a stupid first round pick last year in Ginn Jr. If we do this trade it would allow us to strictly concentrate on building back up are aging defense and bringing in possibly another QB. If Brown comes back and is fine next year our running game will be secure and the addition of CJ will only stretch the field and buy some possible time for our young QB to settle in!

Oh and if it only cost us a 3rd rounder that would be like trading chambers and a 3rd rounder for CJ and a 2nd rounder! That’s a no brainer to anyone who actually watches football!

Chad Johnson would look better in Raider colors then teal… Fit right in and help our helpless team… maybe not though!
