Scouting Report: Fred Davis, TE, USC
Fred Davis does not have great speed, but at the collegiate level his ability to read defenses and react made up for it. Will the senior from the University of Southern California be able to read the NFL defenses as well? I am not sure. Davis has the football IQ to get open using his skills, but might be a liability in the rushing game. Davis will be the first tight end off the board, going before the end of the first round. That in itself is not really a compliment, since this draft might see Davis as the only tight end to go in the first day.
Scouting Report
Pros: Coming from a pro-style offense, he can easily adapt to the next level and be useful from the start.
Cons: He needs to work on his route running as well as separation.
Overall: He was a wide receiver before being switched to tight end, so if he can use that to his advantage he will find himself with more upside than down.
